Forget who it was that told me the Improved King is more aggressive and the best shave but they are right on BOTH counts. The shave with this vintage just easily matched the best shaves I've had and can stand toe to toe with the Blackbird Titanium at a fraction of the cost to me. The bigger gap is noticeable and more blade feel for sure but a smooth and glorious shave was had. This vintage is just on another level compared to what's in the vintage Williams bowl soap I have. Not sure what's up with that but I love this stick.

So Jeff got in touch with me and told me about a razor that the person would not ship to him they had for sale if I was interested (Now I know another place he hunts his goodies ) It happens to be within 2 hours of me and I'm supposed to go get it this morning. Excited about this score and hoping it doesn't fall thru........Dated 1898 or 1899. Mismatched set as it's a STAR razor but still happy. Thanks for the info and heads up on it Jeff, I could hardly sleep !

Turns out my initial thoughts were correct that it's NOT a Gem case but what they called this Star razor......"The Gem"
