Hang in there Dave. You are building up some seriously good Karma.
My MIL is needing a lot more help lately. Luckily she is only 15 minutes away. My wife and her sisters are feeling the stress of it all. Wish they had your coping ability’s. I try and keep my wife calm and focused. One day at a time buddy.

Thanks Ken I question my coping skills daily LOL I hope that you are able to cope and keep up with your mother-in-law's needs also. It's frustrating to see our loved ones go downhill but all we can do is everything we can to keep them comfortable, safe and secure.

Goodies from Clouds arrived today and thought I'd share photos for Patriot to see just 1 example of what Claudio skillfully makes for us. Here is the replacement Brass handle and extension for the barrel since the handle is slightly longer. This makes the razor less head heavy as well as an attractive option. This handle also lets me overclock it to get a setting up to 9 instead of just 6. He kindly included a sample Gibbs blade pack. I may need to send the barrel off for replating if it is able to be done. Anyone know what metal it is and the top cap too ? Looks like brass but feels too light to be to me.

Thanks Eric, still need an appropriate knot or it. Only one I have here currently is a silksmoke that doesn't look right to me and is a little small for it.

Claudio may know more but my 4 Gibbs have three different weight end pieces and three different caps (smooth and ridged). The plates are brass for sure but the caps for the brass razors I don't know, they could be a steel rather than brass. Both ridged and smooth caps for the brass razors weigh around 16g, the aluminum cap only 8g.

I couldn’t know any less about that razor than I already do.
I get that you’re interested in the oddity’s and history of those antiques.
I’ll stick with my nickel FatBoy and modern razors.
And this Claudio guy makes these razor parts in South Africa while people are shooting at him?
What else does Claudio make?

The Gibbs is the SMOOTHEST adjustable around Pete at all settings and why it is heavily sought after. I had a pristine condtion one that I sold on the bay that would have MORE than covered buying a Sailor. Claudio also makes aluminum ferrules for extra variety on a Rubberset 400 Brush.

I believe that the two heavier top caps are brass. This one without the ridge has been drilled and the brass is clearly visible. One of my top caps with the ridge has exposed edges and that looks like brass. Your twist knob will also be brass.

Happy Some disturbing images just over a week ago - but all seems to be back to normal organized chaos. Winking
I fiddle around in my workshop making big pieces of metal into smaller pieces that sometimes only I really understand why I've done it. My wife often asks "what do you want that for"
