Eric definitely has a point. Get it too bold and newly painted looking, it'll clash with the overall theme. The brush looks in good condition, yet still shows it's a vintage tool.

I say your get-r-done job is exactly what it needed. Color me impressed.

Thanks for the kind comments about the brush refurbish MaineYooper mrdoug and Fluffy It worked fine today but this knot is just VERY stiff. More than I care for but it will sit here for awhile as I focus on some other brushes as the knots for them arrive. The Baron's Choice from Rob ExtraProtein continues to shrink with steady use and is one of my more enjoyable 1508.5's I've done. It is a favorite of his Grandfather Bruno. Bruno, you Sir have impeccable taste !!  Happy2 Have a stupendous day Everyone !!

Vector! One thing I'm noticing, with either head, it seems to pick up the imperfections on my mug, and sometimes we screech! I'm up to #7 on the Proline. I usually toss a DE after this. I might here too, and see if I truly have imperfections on my Cary Grant visage, or maybe it's time for a new blade!

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 948

First off the 1508.5 continues with after removing tub weight we are at @1.2 ounces of soap. I used a Sorrentino today as I have been thinking about Eric Smattayu and hoping he is just busy with the house hunting which can be a daunting job and tough decisions to be made.

The Barbasol Floating Head razor is generously on loan from Jorge jorvaljr Today's shave was a nice one. I was cautious at first as many say how aggressive this razor is. I didn't find it particularly aggressive but it is efficient and if respected gives a wonderful shave. I got comfortable with it and over buffed around my mouth which lead to a few weepers but that was user error getting cavalier with it. I have read all I can and still don't get the floating head name or how to tell the difference between the 2. I guess I'm just dense. It seems to be a brass plated razor as it has some heft to it like a Gillette Big Fellow. This is a 2 piece design razor as the handle does not separate from the base plate. I'll get another shave with it and then send it back to it's kind owner as I get nervous when in possession of pricey or hard to replace items on loan. Thanks again Jorge and everyone have a great day and weekend !

Maybe you missed when I uploaded earlier, but here are the non Floating Head and Floating Head Heavy razors side by side. The NFH is the same geometry as that used ih the '34 bakelite handle two-piece, and in the later three piece Coopers. The Conrad patent drawing reflects this NFH design.

I find the gap/exposure of the FH just spot on for me, great feel and efficiency without being threatening. The additional heft and exposure make it a good step up from excellent contemporary razors like the Gillette Short Comb and gives it a very modern feel.

Thanks Jeff. So the bump up (circled in red) on the base plate holding the blade a little higher gap wise is the difference if I am understanding this?

Yes it's the channel ahead of the safety bar (a la the Gillette New Improved/Deluxe) that alters the guardspan, gap and exposure on the FH.
