Razor: Jones Shake Sharp
Blade: Double Stacked Wizamets (?)
Brush: SV 2.0 Bamboo
Soap: PAA CK6 Astra Planeta Sample
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Vintage Aqua Velva
Fragrance: Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man

This soap was a sample gifted from my shave friend Ken Fluffy and I thank him. Here's the scent notes and comment from the sellers:

Scent Profile: Black Pepper, Petitgrain, Grapefruit, Neroli, Lavender, Plumeria, Geranium, Oak Moss, Purple Carnation, Australian Sandalwood, Haitian Vetiver, Opopanax Resin, India Olibanum Resin, Ambergris, Tobacco Absolute.

A Flavorful, Memorable, Relaxing Tobacco Scent, rich in honeyed woody notes with especially boozy and boldly woody undertones. Languid, rich and beguiling, alluring, masculine and down right intoxicating!

I can not describe the scent at all. It's a VERY strong scent and reminded me of something I couldn't quite put my finger..........................nose on. I think it reminds me a tad of The Soloist by Zingari Man. Anyway it has more going on then The Soloist but similar. It's an enjoyable scent but not a buy (I'm in a No Buy anyway) I'm glad I got to try the CK6 formula which you hear some rave about. It's very slick and a nice soap but not ground breaking as far as I'm concerned. Not a purchase for me as I'm not a fan of the maker for past reasons that those that have been around long enough know and I'm not beating a dead horse. Also don't care for the way you are barraged with adds and pop ups and things trying to lock you into the site with technology when you go there. Comes across as desperate to me, but that's just my feelings. I thank Ken for giving me my 1st try of the CK6.

Now on to the razor..................OHHHH MY GOODNESS. I was first introduced to this by seeing it in Jeff's Jgreenepa who uses several models and raved about it. I can tell you that after 2 strokes I knew I was glad I got a pristine example of the razor when I bought one. This is a keeper in the den and after 1 shave a desert island razor "for me" I stacked 2 Wizamet's (Jeff's recommendation for blade thickness) with similar number of uses but unknown and got a smoooooth shave for the ages that had me chasing a little bit for the baby that was caught with ease even in my problem areas. All I can say is WOW and Thank You Jeff.

On to the Vintage vintage Aqua Velva. Been wanting to try this for some time. The 50% ethyl alcohol had me alert but no "Home Alone" moment at all when used. I found it more fresh, earthy and like a vetiver than the newer vintage and the modern which is more aquatic. It's soothing and refreshing and a wlcome member to the shave resources at my disposal. Hope all are having a great weekend !!

Edit for thoughts on Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man. Never used the Creed but this is citrus out of the gate and then dries down to the kinda what I'd call an oriental woodsy with some grapefruit poking thru. Nice and decent sillage but could be stronger for me. Still for the $27 price point on fragrance.net it's a definite buy.

Glad you enjoyed the sample Dave. I have read up on all the hoopla about the vendor as well. Seems as if whenever you get a bunch of people in the same sphere. The "shaving world". The ying and yang of the universe requires a sprinkling of diversity that causes friction, chaos and many outcomes. We navigate them as best as possible. I had never tried the maker and figured I'd try them out. It is nice. But like you. Will probably not be a refill on this prescription. I do kind of enjoy his "marketing" as it is kind of bombastic. Kind of like some of these guys claiming that their honing technique is guided from the spirit world.  Cool
Hope your Sunday goes well.

Great shave and great writeup Dave.

That's a beautiful Shake Sharp you have there.  Looks like a very well-kept gold V2.  I got my inspiration from both jmudrick and  Jgreenepa, including the use of two blades - in my case, a shim and a blade, but maybe it's time to try stacking two blades again.

Scentwise, it is interesting to read your take on the Club De Nuit.  I've never had the Creed original either, and FWIW I also think the Armaf is a good scent and a great value

Do you find the scent of Intense Man similar to Creed Aventus? If I remember correctly, many folks do.

I get the lemon and pineapple on the front end and hen dry down is the base notes mixed as described. Scent is nice but not much sillage or projection to me. It does last on clothes and my arm that I can sniff and still get it now if holding up to my nose.

“No Home Alone moment”... that’s a keeper.  Tongue

Not seen this razor before...definitely nice condition though! Stacked blades you say?! Sounds like some interesting shave science going on there!

Razor: Lupo Dual Comb .72 OC/.95 SB
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush: Burma Shave Boar
Soap: Vintage Williams
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Vintage Vintage Aqua Velva
Fragrance: Azzaro Visit

Up today is the Vintage soap and splash from the kit I received recently. I'm not sure about using the blades yet Big Grin

Got an amazing lather for the New Lupo Dual Comb to ride thru. The Lupo is going to be a welcome addition to the den I can tell already. I like it better than the DLC Lupo I sold. The SB .95 side seemed much more forgiving and smooth than the .72 OC side. The razor does seem to drag a bit. thought the DLC coating is what caused that feel but it may be in the design and the angle that it requires to shave with that gives the drag effect and no doubt the reason the SB feels better even at a higher gap. Comparing it to the Yates razor with the H plate there is much less gap than the Yates. The Yates has the clamp point of the razor more away from the blades edge but also has more of a bend on the razor blade giving it the rigidity I prefer even at a further back clamp point. The Lupo is a narrower head design. The photo shows the comparison.

So I got a nice comfortable shave and am glad to have the Lupo in the den. After 1 shave I think the SB .95 will be my preference and may trade the .72 SB for a .95 SB but more shaves and experimentation is needed before deciding. All that said I like it but the Yates with the H and possibly the Hybrid are still my preferences. Topped with the Humphrey's and Auqa Velva which is more a Fresh Green Vetiver to my nose while the more current Vintage (Blue) and Modern are more a Fresh Aquatic to me. I enjoy them all ! Azzaro Visit is a great scent and cheap so you can use more which you need to if you wanna be "That Guy" Take care and have a great day everyone !!
