The Fat Fat Shave

Wednesday January 13, 2021
Razor: Gillette Fatboy F4 1960
Blade: Gillette Spoiler (2)
Brush: Grizzly Bay Oumo SHD Handmaster
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Nivea Deep
Fragrance: BVLGARI Man in Black Essence

So to start off today with the extra whisker growth due to yesterday's less than BBS shave I decided to put a wet towel in a glass bowl and heat it in the microwave. After wetting my face good I applied a TRUE HOT towel which felt great and I feel helped me get the whiskers softened more than what I normally get since I don't shave after a shower (Evening Shower guy here) I then went with for another 1st using Mitchell's Wool Fat for the first time ever............................................I know, I know, I know.ALL these years of shaving this way and I somehow never got to trying it. I will say I guess I have better than average water or I was chosen or whatever I didn't have any trouble getting a nice lather that produced the legendary slickness and Have the post shave feel of my skin I hear about as well. The scent is an amazing oak, vanilla almost like a bourbon..............................................NOPE, just kidding, it's soap scent but a great shave was had. Today I was back to using 50+ year old Gillette's for that focus this week on the 30DC Crew at TSD. For that I have my 1960 F4 Fatboy found at the Flea Market for $3 and $50 more to get it redone in Rhodium. Paired with a 2nd use Gillette Spoiler and the whiskers were virtually jumping out of their follicles in fear. Topped with the Humphrey's, Nivea Deep and hit some shots of Man in Black Essence and I'm ready to tackle the day or let the day tackle me. Have a Stupid Fun Day Everyone !!

That razor sure is shiny Dave. Congrats on the Fat success. I tried it a bunch of times. But just don't care much for it.
Have a good one buddy. Don't forget you might have mail. Smile

I sure wish MWF worked for me. I love the scent and post shave.... but sadly it won’t work with my water. I’ve almost gone as far as buying bottled water to use with it.

Glad it works for you Dave!

Gillette 50+ or Older Focus Week
Thursday January 14, 2021
Razor: 1914 Gillette Single Ring
Blade: Gillette Spoiler (3)
Brush: Graydog Quilt
Soap: Lakewood SOCP (1508.5 Project)
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Skin Bracer
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Lothair

Back to the 1508.5 Project. Man it seems so often.........................like every other day we do this  Big Grin Holding to tub to the light I see a faint donut hole beginning. Yay !! Today we took it up a notch to over 100 years with a 1914 Dated Single Ring. These were my nemisis' that I tamed and now get amazingly close shaves in comfort now. Although I like shiny things especially my razors, I love the age and patina on this razor and leave it that way. Chilly start to the work day but heading to the low 50's today and I'll take it. Powdery goodness of the Skin Bracer mixed with the Peppery goodness of the Lothair and we're ready for the day.......................after some more coffee !!! Have a tremendous day Everyone !

Nice shave! It was in the mid 30s this morning, so I had the brush warmer on deck.
