I just ran across an eBay listing for a Paradigm II Titanium DE razor for $1,100 buy it now price that includes a brush and soap. Talk about an excessive price tag. I know we live in a capitalist society and all and that some persons would pay that type of premium. Definitely not I. I just wanted to let everyone know. No way on earth would I drop $1000+ on a razor.
Yeah, there's quite few things out there like that. What bothers me even more than the unobtainium type sales is when people post very common vintage razors in poor condition for sale on eBay for really high prices. They also use words like: "rare," "scarce," "hard/impossible to find," and "unobtainium." I realize folks should do their homework, but I just imagine someone new to traditional wet shaving wanting to try a vintage Gillette going a little crazy with excitement and getting burned.

Ask the vender for and insist upon:
Better well lit detailed pictures
A better verbal description including condition
Are there any flaws or damages or unusual marks including engraving
Does it work perfectly
History of object with ownership(s)
Municipal address of vendor and then check it and him/her out
Return policy
OR:
Instead buy a used GEM or Schick Injectable or Rolls Razor and use the rest for a trip to Disneyland.

I agree, and I also would suggest asking all the questions you can think of, as well as checking the seller's feedback carefully. If you're cautious you can get some excellent deals on eBay.

Also, I have fun just looking at the odd things offered - for instance, a replica of the cane used by John Hammond in the film Jurassic Park.
