jesseix  C’mon Jess we couldn’t have that now could we? What I can’t ever understand is why these people don’t do their dirt like a normal person on eBay?

The glaring difference between Ebay and DFS BST is, although discouraged, at DFS the Merchants of Chaos can, and do, talk members into sending Payment via Friends and Family. From there you have zero recourse and DFS seems to lay the blame entirely at the feet of the buyer. Not my sandbox, not my rules. Good thing too.

Happy Father's Day.

I didn't say it was DFS' fault. If I did, point it out. What i said was DFS "seems" to lay blame solely at the feet of the buyer. I was specifically referencing your post in the closed thread. As I recall, it was only 4 sentences or so. The first generic, the last 3 pointing out buyer beware, etc. Etc. I don't think you even mentioned the deplorable behavior of the seller....and by letting the seller remain a member in good standing, the admin team gives tacit approval. Just my opinion. Maybe I read too much into your post.

I have no skin in the game but it sounds like you and I are on the same page tho on the seller skating.

Dishonesty is just a pet peeve of mine.

Well it is a he said, she said type of thing for mods to make a decision on. They can't prove one way or the other when the payment and shipping info is outside the forum. Best you can do in this case is have a seller and buyer complaint profile attachment that everyone can see. You make a complaint it is put on your profile and details of it. Same with the seller. Let users see that and make their own decision if they want to do business with the user account.

here's the thing - I don't read PMs (I could, if I wanted, but I have much better things to do with my free time) so unless someone alerts us that someone is asking/demanding for payments as F&F vs the proper methods on paypal, we won't know. If we see it in the threads, we'll usually move them to a specific bst fix section for the OP to fix before we'll move it back to being publicly viewable. We have levied warnings & temporary bans for people repeatedly doing this, including 1 temporary bst ban recently. The one caveat to the PM stuff is when someone replies to the automated forum alert about having a new private message as that email address they're replying to gets forwarded to me. This is how the most recent person caught a temporary bst ban...

honestly though, I'm not sure how many times we need to tell people to STOP PAYING FOR ITEMS VIA F&F on paypal! when they get ripped off, and someone eventually does, they want us to try to fix their mistakes that they knew was a mistake from the start and we explicitly state in our bst rules that transactions are between the buyer and seller and NOT DFS.

Can anyone give me a valuation for the Charcoal Goods SS Stinger V1 handle ONLY on the far left?

Although pre-owned it’s in its original condition and like new.  Thank You!

If anyone can remember what the offering price was at CG that would be a help to me too.

Thank You!

As the subject of BST safeguards has come up a few times, I thought I would mention that the Reddit Shave_Bazaar subreddit is re-evaluating its approach to assisting members in evaluating reputation of other members, as an outcome of the recent API pricing model changes from Reddit.

In addition to instituting a confirmed trade feedback system, I assume something along the lines that DFS offers, they are looking at some type of reputation scoring system. The reputation system would be based off multiple independent shaving related subreddits (forums), and attempt to measure engagement (presumably post count etc) and karma points (likes). It seems that the Shave_Bazaar may be more focused on outright drive by scammers.

They are also asking for more moderators, which is somewhat interesting as the subreddit is dedicated to BST transactions. So I presume this is to expand coverage of suspicious or non compliant descriptions. They are also losing one of their key moderators.

Those Lads over at Reddit are a TOUGH Crowd.  I’m on my best behaviour when I go visit them.  Saying hello the wrong way over there can get you a black eye.  I don’t mess with the Reddit Lads, they must be based in Chicago.

Here’s the thing about feedback.  You can have impeccable feedback and be honourable amongst your peers…. But you lose your job, lose your income and now you’re stealing from people to continue feeding your shaving gear addiction.  For what? “Look at me I’m rich.” No you’re not, you’re a thief loser and only as good as your last transaction.

A $30 software kit won’t break my bank.  A $1500usd razor, I’ll be seeing you….

I don't deal with that specific sub reddit, and I don't play on reddit as a whole very much. But I do hang out on a couple knife groups because it kinda feeds my interest in page monitoring. Bill drops some Koenigs? Whitty drop some Curtiss BMFs? Oz drop some Rosies? I will post and try to help a fellow blade addict secure something they may not ever have a chance to buy directly from the mothership. Met some really nice guys that way. It reminds me of the Wolfman days and the GO! texts to my boys when James opened the door. Good times and lots of fun. It's a hobby. There are worse things to occupy one's time.

we've seen some pretty ridiculous things over the years.

1 scammer would put a small slice in the padded envelopes he'd use to ship out stuff to make it look like the item 'fell out' during transit, when the item was never even shipped in the 1st place.

another scammer tried to sell a straight razor to two different people when only 1 of those items even exists in the entire world, as confirmed by the maker of said straight razor....

etc., etc..

aside from bst feedback, which we used since this forum was opened up, I can't really think of any type of 'good' system that might help weed out bad actors. we're all basically volunteers on here so it'd be tough to ask someone to commit more free time to help someone else out with their purchase. we need people participating in the transactions to be honest and let us know when someone is asking for F&F payments and such...it's a two-way street!
