Cold River Soap Works Glide Review

How are you guys finding your Glide soap in the longevity department? I broke through to the bottom in 10 shaves. I'll admit that my first 2 shaves I used too much, but have settled on about a 5-10 second load with very light pressure. Not that it bothers me all that much considering how much soap is in the den and it is nice to finish them off. Other then longevity, it's been an enjoyable soap to use with a scent that has slowly grown on me (Olfactory Hue).

Due to the softness of Glide, I transferred the soap into silicone travel squeeze bottles and dispense it that way.  Each time I get the exact amount on my brush that I want and don't waste any.

Makes a lot of sense. CRSW should offer Glide in a tube. Longevity aside, I like the product a lot. Super easy to load, nice scent and great performance. Good chance I'll try another scent when this one is done.

I find using Glide as a cream works best for me. Wonderful slickness and with this Morning Ghost I catch an earthy, spicy vetiver with a hint of light lemon. There’s some grass in there too. It’s clear a lot of thought and testing went into this scent. Wonderful take on vetiver.

Question: do people tend to load their brushes with this just like any other shaving soap but just for less time? Or is it a "dip the brush tips in" and work into a lather on your face type produce? Is it actually a cream?

Cream. A previous jar I treated as a soap but it was too soft in my use. I use it strictly as a cream in my photo above. Wonderful unique product.

From the sample I have, I’d say that it’s very close to a cream, but not quite as soft as, say, my Truefitt & Hill cream.

Today, I took some of the soap (cream), put it on the bottom of a steel bowl, and began the lather building there. Great shave. However, I’m a face latherer, and can’t help but wonder if the experience would be even better if I could gently swirl a fairly wet brush in a full-size jar and then commence to build a lather directly on my face…

I use it like I use my harder soaps . Just reduce the pressure on the surface and it works wonderfully. And I keep the brush on the dryer end (no dripping water)

That is what I do...........works great! I also cut the loading time in half of my usual.

Yes, thanks ANG69 and Hondo, nice to hear about what works for you. Clearly, this is a soap that might require some experimenting to get things right, just loading-wise.

The newest scent (Morning Ghost) sounds intriguing, by the way.
