Below average burn, nice kiss of menthol and the most refreshing if not effervescent scent in ones arsonal. The theme is a Gin inspired creation. With a tip of the bottle you are greated with a reserved lick of Juniper followed by a bright citrus scent that chases your nose. Meet Colbeck, the most unappreciated aftershave of this summer.

This is the first review for an aftershave I have posted on this forum. It takes a lot to impress me and I do regret not buying two bottles instead of one. No, I was not asked to write a review or given any freebies. I am simply a man in love with a Gin inspired aftershave.

Ingredients: Alcohol, witch hazel, aloe, polysorbate 20, fragrance, menthol

Scent notes: juniper, citrus, coriander, cardamom, nutmeg, anise

Click here. Also avaliable from Maggards.

Just received my Colbeck yesterday after having been without. I do like all the Chatillon products but Bon Vivant was my favorite until it was recently dethroned by Colbeck.

Great summer AS!

Wanted to ask you and a few other known Colbeck aficionados (LegalEagle1, Marko, racerx1):
1) How would you rate the scent strength & longevity of Colbeck?
2) If you had to name one favorite trait about Colbeck, what would it be?

As you can probably tell, I’m wondering whether to jump on the bandwagon before the season is over.

Asafiev above nailed it. I got a few hours scent out of it, but it was down to a lingering close skin scent after an hour or so--perfect declining strength/longevity axis for me in a hiot weather AS. You would need to be careful if you plan on wearing a fragrance as it could clash for a couple of hours (but not all day). Best trait: Incredibly refreshing scent and feeling married to very nice gin & lime aromatics. BTW, does NOT smell of alcohol - you won't smell like a drunk. Imagine if you could separate the gin aromatics from the grain alcohol, leaving the alcohol behind - that's what this smells like to me. I also hVe to say that the coolness from the menthol lingers for quite awhile. It felt awesome as I walked out into triple digit heat within only a few moments of splashing it on - like really awesome.

I feel like I should throw it out there that once the stock is out, then it's out. But there's still about 35% of the stock left after the initial rush, so it's not in danger of selling out any time soon. You have plenty of time to decide, don't want to make you feel rushed at all, but I made a really, really big batch of it. Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware Smile

For me, the scent lasts a good 4-5 hours.  As for strength, I find Colbeck most readily comparable to any of Mr. Fines aftershaves (except for Snakebite).

The amount of menthol is perfect.  It is enough to wake you up, but not enough to be overpowering.  Colbeck IMHO is the perfect summertime scent -- doubt that I would wear it once Fall rolls around.  I would also like to add that this is one of the few scents that all of my family members love (a rarity in my household!).

Hi Matsilainen , I like Colbeck because its got a subtle, sophisticated scent, I mean who doesn't like a gin and tonic o a hot summer day? I also like the trademark Chatillon Lux conditioning feel that it provides that soothes my skin pos shave for most of the day - the scent is mild compared to other CL scents but will give you some scent for 3 to 5 hours in my experience.

Thanks everyone so far for the feedback, I have read it carefully and it is much appreciated! I now have a much better idea of what to expect with Colbeck.

Hobbyist, I value your opinions and will be interested to find out how you like the product.

Also, hawns, thanks for the update on availability. I remember reading from the Chatillon Lux merchant thread that this was the one batch for this year, and when it’s gone, it’s gone. Something to definitely keep in mind! Especially as I have seen a few posts about fans who purchased more than one bottle. Smile
