Aurelian28 Two different razors IMO. I own both and they both perform very well, but differently. Hard for me to explain it.

I had the first Mongoose.

Got my Cobra Monday.

I've really gotten far better shaves with the Cobra than I ever did with the Mongoose.

I understand the Mongoose has been refined somewhat since the first batch that I had and sold. I've also doubled down my skills and techniques since owning it and feel I'm much more tuned in to more aggressive shavers than I was then.

That being said, the Mongoose was heavier than I thought and a bit angular and utilitarian compared to a Cobra. Looks aside, the Mongoose I had was stainless which I prefer over the chrome plated brass of the Cobra.

I've been steadily using slightly more aggressive razors since the time I had the Mongoose. If I had it today, I may feel differently about the shave, but not about its looks.

The Cobra is incredible so far in the five shaves I've had. The first I was slow and deliberate. A new blade and a new razor. By the third shave my pace picked up and the comfort was outstanding. I literally stood there with a brush full of lather and BBS face with only two passes done. In half the time I'd need to DE shave and with magnitudes more comfort I stood there confused. Like when you walk into a room and forget what you went in there for I had a feeling like I forgot something or skipped a step. I didn't make enough strokes? No that's not it the blade is wider. I haven't done my third pass and touch ups. True, but I can't feel any stubble. The blade wasn't in the razor because I didn't feel it and my neck isn't red. Uh nope. Skin feels like a baby's bottom and yes I really am done shaving already...

Like the coolest and funnest SE razor that shaves so efficiently and comfortably that I am disappointed when it's over because it's so effortless and each stroke is so productive it literally takes me longer now to whip up and apply my lather than it does to shave.

So there I am rinsing my brush like a kid who missed his turn at the game but still has to straighten up.

I was actually a few minutes early for work the last two days because I got done shaving so fast using the Cobra.

Whether it's better or not than the Mongoose I really can't say, but I think it looks better at least. I'd like to see the Cobra in stainless, but it's nice enough that I can see myself pampering it well enough that it doesn't make that big of a deal to me that it's not.

By the way, I got both Cobras but have only used the King so far on a Jürgen Hempel handle.

Having used both, I can say the Corba Classic is different than the Mongoose. I find it to be easier to move around the face, more efficient and more aggressive. I find the Mongoose more forgiving to use and better built. YMMV

[Image: nbzw6ez.jpg]I've used my new Cobra Classic five times. Excellent, excellent shaves.  The handle is a little shorter than I'm used to so I have to adjust for that.  Otherwise it's performing as advertised. I have to echo much of what Todd wrote above.

One of the few razor regrets I have is having sold my Cobra Classic. I've never been able to buy another Cobra, but finally with the new ATT coming out I think I will be better off in the long run.
