I have been traveling a lot for work lately and I can't use a cart without getting ingrown hairs, so I mail blades to the hotel and leave them over the weekend. I carry either my Above The Tie or Blackbird. I used to bring a tech or superspeed, but I didn't enjoy it as much, so I decided just to bring a good razor. I just bought an Omega s brush to keep in my travel container full time. I use AOS sample size shaving cream. I also bring witch hazel pads, an alum stick, bump stopper after shave, and Cremo SPF 20 face lotion. I have found that I don't get stopped by security if I go ahead and take my razor apart and leave it out. I forgot to take it out of my bag twice and I got stopped both times.

I pack the following for a carry-on bag:
Turkish copper hammered bowl
Catie's Bubbles LPV 3 oz shaving soap (I never use it at home)
One of my four awesome synthetic brushes
One of my 16 awesome 2oz bottles of Chatillon Lux aftershaves
I carry my DE razor in my shirt pocket, without a blade, so I can place it in the white tub for the conveyor belt. My current favorite for travel is the ATT H2. Usually, the TSA guy loves to hear my explanation when I get busted, and he usually smiles when I show him how it works, in part because it's so beautiful, and mostly because it doesn't have a blade loaded. Bigger smile when he hands it back to me. I only take DEs to travel because DE blades are much easier to find in foreign locales than injector blades, Gem blades, AC blades, FHS-10 blades or hair shapers.
When I'm staying at a hotel, I'll send blades ahead if I remember in time. When I'm staying with family, I know where my blade stashes are...
When I'm checking the bag, things are much easier.I think "What can I live with for X days without variety, be it razor, blades, brush, soap or aftershave?" The bowl is a constant, but everything else is very fluid, including the style of razor. Even with a checked bag, however, I keep the razor in my shirt pocket.

Great thread. For some reason I always want to try something different when I travel. This past weekend my wife and I went out to the coast to visit friends and stay at their place on an island not far from Vancouver. I brought a Rockwell 6s with plate 3, feather blades, an EJ travel brush (badger), Pre de Provence No.66 shaving cream and some Chatillon Lux Delors de Treget aftershave in a small sample vial. OK, so mistakes were the brush and the cream. I couldn't get the cream to lather worth a darn and the brush underwhelmed also. I otherwise was able to get a decent shave and the Delors de Treget aftershave was awesome. I guess I'm pretty thick because I've done this before - trying out products that you haven't tried before or not used in a long time should be reserved for doing at home where you can abort if there's a problem and get stuff that works. On the road you're pretty much stuck with it so I have to remember to take tried and true only.
It all depends, I always check a bag so no issues bringing a DE. Brush Simpsons Chubby 2 synthetic, in Simpsons travel tube, I either bring a prewar Tech that I've put on a Razorock handle or my new travel razor the Wolfman Guerilla. Everything else is variable depending on reason for travel and length of stay, but usually Thayer's which hazel aftershave it's a nice unscented 2 in one and a shave stick for short trips or a variety of soap if it's longer than a week. I also keep a match book of alum in my shave kit, never needed it but if it wasn't there I probably would
Fatip Grande
Astra SP or PermaSharp Super blades
TGC Synthetic
Whetever soap samples I have on hand. Right now it's a Mystic Water Jeff's Lavender sample I put in a Tobasco Chocolate Tin, which is the perfect size for MW and Stirling samples.
Witch Hazel in small travel bottle.
If I'm staying with friends rather than in a hotel, I'll bring a few extra barber towels too.
