Thanks for the breakdown...very helpful.

I was wondering how The Carbon –  compared to the Chiseled Face.

I own or have owned every carbon plate in Ti.

The closest CF Ti comparison the Carbon Ti ++.  I find the CF is more forgiving than the Carbon ++ (less likely to have a weeper) but YMMV.  For further clarification here is my ranking of Carbon plates in Ti for efficiency (ability to remove more hair in less passes and length of BBS or DFS+) and smoothness (which is dictated by blade feel, tugging, and post shave alum feedback by myself).

I read up a little and still can't get my head around how the Chiseled Face Ti which some reviews here rate somewhere around a 1.05 WR2
for everyday shaves can be the equal of a Carbon ++ which is pitched as "very efficient, for shaves every 4-5 days". (gaps seem quite similar though)

Razor makers highly overestimate aggressiveness (Wolfman used to say 1.25 is aggressive) but this does get confusing if you're basing purchase decisions solely on product literature. If you get it wrong, you take a sizeable loss on BST.

Can see why pass arounds are the only way to be as close to a 100% sure.

The Carbon ++ gap and blade exposure are closer to this razor.  I have owned 5 Carbon razors (still have one with 2 plates).

Rather than hope for a pass around, doesn’t he have a 30 day return policy? Even if you bought a raw finish for 200, you could sell it here for 150 no doubt. You are never out the full amount.

Completed a fine shave with it today.  Used a carbon Ti ++ 2 days ago.  Definitely the most fair comparison.

And right now, for Father’s Day, Ron has 15% off everything.   That means you can get a raw herringbone or Pineapple Tist Titanium razor for 170 USD+ tax.

What a deal!!!

FD23 is the code!

Looked up the code - FD23. $169.99 with free shipping. With 30 days to return, I think it’s worth a try at least. I am guilty of much worse.

I have swapped my mild Carbon CRX "–" plate out for a "++" and think I'm gonna enjoy this one more.
It is currently enroute...hopefully this eliminates the need to purchase a CF razor
since they are similar. I do consider the Carbon to be a MOMA level design though,
so I'm pleased.
