I have it in toner a few months old and a new bottle of aftershave - hawns , does that mean i have both the pre and post reformulation product? I'm going to go compare them.

I think Chatillon Lux is carving out a unique post shave space in the shaving world - well done Shawn.

Thank you! I'm happy to be the guy who stays on the bookends of a shave!

And I believe you do have a reformulation in the aftershave. It's not a ton different, especially out of the bottle, but I think the pepper, rosemary and green elements just linger a little more on the dry down rather than the bergamot did more so previously. Again, not huge, but I needed to replace the FO black pepper with an EO in order to reduce the risk of irritation, thanks to some very helpful advice from Barrister_N_Mann and then figured, since my former business partner was a tightwad and the one who objected to using the nice stuff (and conveniently, never talked with any customer or visited any forums or monitored the social media...), I figured now that I'm solo I could start using the good stuff across the board. So I've been migrating any scents over to essential oils whenever possible.

Again, nothing very noticeable, but I guess the devil does reside in the details, so I'd imagine it's worth doing.

Oh man, that means is going to take me forever to finish all the ones I have before I can try reformulations.

I really dislike reformulations, lol.....I may have to start buying products one at a time, so as not to get stuck with old stock.

The toner in particular is a uniquely fantastic product! I've already recommended it to a couple of gents who have similarly sensitive skin. I love the thickness and heavy moisturizing elements, especially since it remains fluid and refreshing like a splash.

Haha, I wouldn't worry. The differences are subtle at most unless you've experienced irritation from our products. I often find people who have irritation think that it's a certain ingredient in the product, but then some have tried unscented products and discovered it was, in fact, the scent. So it's to avoid irritation rather than to change the scents. And to create fewer emails for me to answer Wink

Edit: Instead of the word "reformulation," we'll say I'm sourcing ingredients from a new supplier? That might be a more accurate description of what's happening here.

I'd also add that Shawn is incredibly accommodating with custom formulas too, then you get locked into your specific mix. I'm like you Hector, don't have sensitive skin nor need a ton of moisturizing in an AS. The mix that Shawn settled on for me, with a menthol kicker is exactly perfect for what I'm looking for.

Oh, yeah, those are good ones, Jeff. I just added those and a couple for Ryan @ Tallow + Steel soaps as well. I have Dark on the slate for Friday and I'm trying to decide whether Gratiot League Square or Bon Vivant is the best pairing. It'll probably be a game-time decision.

I've now had a week with some of Shawn's Post-Shave Toners and wanted to give my impressions.

These Toners are very moisturizing, with a touch of alcohol. I don't generally prefer alcohol based splashes, so this one is great for me. What I like is that if I apply after shaving, I get a little bit of a burn (more like a tingle), but if I apply in the afternoon then I don't feel any burn or tingle. These have just the right amount of alcohol for me.

Bon Vivant: This one is difficult for me to describe as there are so many things in it, that every time I wear it, what I smell changes. It is reminiscent of a whiskey/citrus cocktail, but very complex. There is definitely a whiskey/caramel/syrup base as the dry-down, and a great citrus note on the top from the Yuzu/Grapefruit and possibly the juniper. Very great scent. This is something I would use before going out on the town.

La Forêt de Liguest: My favourite of the two. This is a woody scent, but not overly woody. Think of a bright, fresh, sunny forest with a lush variety of vegetation, rather than a humid, dark forest. The vanilla blends perfectly with the citrus and florals, all on a wood/moss/musk base. It's really great, and pairs excellently with our Rainforest scent.

Two hits for sure, and looking forward to trying more.

Cheers

Ryan
