so you're a baseball fan are you hawns ? I guess its to be expected given that you have a MLB team in your town. We had a AAA Marlins farm team for a few years but they moved on. Got to watch Danny Tartabull hammer lots of HRs though. Then he goes to the show, of course. Did you see the Blue Jays vs Rangers game with a ll the brawls a couple of weeks ago? Rangers wait until their 8th and last meeting of the season in Texas to get payback for the bat flip heard around the world in the playoffs last year. Showed poor character on their part IMO. Either do it at the first opportunity or let it go but what they did was total BS. IMO.

So you had a Florida Marlins minor league team up in Alberta? That seems really weird. Although, not all teams' farm systems are geographically based around their cities. I know the Tigers have a AAA team in Lakeland, FL. That was probably pretty cool while it lasted though.

Oops, I mis-spoke, it was a Mariners farm team. It was still very cool. While I don't really watch much regular season baseball on TV, its a whole different ballgame (I couldn't resist) sitting in the stands on a sunny afternoon or pleasant evening.

Back to the retaliation point - waiting as long as they did also shows that it was completely planned, premeditated and orchestrated with coaching and management approval and direction. If it was so disrespectful then they should have retaliated when it happened, but no, its playoffs and you have to focus on the team and the outcome. MLB should fine the daylights out of the Rangers. I know sports is just entertainment but you can't have this garbage. Honestly, I thought the bat flip rocked but then I'm a Blue Jays fan and I also really like Bautista so my opinion is perhaps a little biased.

Yeah, if they were going to do it, they should've plunked Bautista in his first at bat of the season against them. To me though, it's stupid to get that bent out of shape because a guy flipped his bat after a homerun anyway.

I totally agree. I hate beanball wars so much. I also hate the "play the game the right way" people. If Brice Harper does amazing, superhuman things and then gets super excited about it, then I'm on board. Who cares about bat flips? If you don't want to see it, then strike the guy out. One of my favorite sportswriters is very against it and had a great article on it based on the great comments that Josh Donaldson made.

That was pathetic waiting until Bautista's last AB to plunk him. First of all, Bautista's epic bat flip came after he hit a walkoff home run to advance in the playoffs. It was perhaps my favorite playoff moment last season. Secondly, remember last season when a pitcher threw behind Bautista then he promptly hit a giant dinger and stared the dude down? If you're going to throw at the dude, definitely give him another AB to get a chance to do that.

And Odor has a long history of dirty takeout slides (and a reputation as being a terrible person), so the fact that he took offense to Bautista's slide is just an excuse to throw a haymaker at a dude who he was harboring feelings for.

I dunno, that's a long way of saying that it's just a game. Everyone should have fun and not take it seriously.

I was at the Cards/Cubs game last night. I realize the Cubs are a juggernaut and have a friend who is from Chicago and he ribs me about it...but in a playful way. We had 3B side tickets, so we were in the middle of some Cubs fans. Started the day by having to ask some Cubs fans to get out of our seats. Then ask them more insistently when they tried to ignore us. Then they talked trash to us the WHOLE GAME and stole our seats every time we got up. Decided it was over when they were up 3-1. Then Adams hit the homer to tie it, so they shut up for an inning, but then started again in the 9th when they had men on the corners. Then in the bottom of the ninth, Randal Grichuck hit a walkoff home run and it was one of the best moments of schaudenfreude ever after silently enduring three hours of abuse.

I love baseball is basically what I'm saying.
