Agree with others as I know what I prefer but wouldn’t know how to design it without discussing it with Brian like the way Wolf Whiskers works (but he averages one brush a day). Wolfman or Karve are simple as you just pick your metal, gap/plate and handle length which are all preconfigured.

Also I recall that Brian was insanely busy with his razor production which were not inexpensive (over $200) but he couldn’t keep up with the demand. The wait list was well over 6 months long and drops were never fast enough if you were waiting. At the time he had like 3 metals, 3 plates, 2 finishes and at least 6 (beautiful) handles. Now with customization how will he keep up with our crazy requests ?

He will keep selling lvl1/lvl2/lvl3 razors. I think he may give details about the blade exposure and the gaps of these lvls.
Custom means you will tell him your gap and blade exposure: only two parameters.
He wrote somewhere he has a program to make the custom orders easily. I am sure it is not that complicated.
People can easily order Lvl 2.5 or 2.7.
Or Lvl 3 gap with Lvl 2 exposure.

Looks like, he will have titanium, and polished steel, too.

Latest email update from Brian:

“Spring Workshop Update

We're still under construction in the new building. After battling the city of Bend, Oregon for nearly 6 months we should receive our final mechanical inspection in May. Following a successful inspection we will be issued our occupancy permit which will allow me to actually power on the machines and start working!
2021

2020 was a tough year for everyone. Charcoal Goods experienced a covid-19 forced business shutdown, another out of state move, a shop relocation, and major buildout of a new manufacturing facility. I was forced to make some big changes so that I can continue to offer shaving products.

Once I open the new shop I'm hoping to keep the budget friendly Everyday safety razor head in stock as a 'Ready to Ship' item.

I've designed a brand new safety razor head that combines the shaving characteristics of previous Charcoal razors with information I learned while developing the Everyday.

This new premium razor will be offered in the classic Level 1, 2, and 3, along with a new custom blade gap/exposure baseplate option. It should be backwards compatible with most previously manufactured Charcoal razors.

I'm temporarily switching to a 'manufactured to order' system for these new razor heads. As a one man operation this is the most efficient process while I get the shop up and running.

While there are still many brass & copper razor handles in stock, there are no plans to manufacture any additional razor handles this year.

OPERATIONAL PLAN

Phase 0 (Current) - Our new machine shop is currently under construction and we are not manufacturing new shaving products at this time.

Phase 1 (June/July 2021) - Everyday Brass and Everyday Copper razor heads will be available on a 'Ready to Ship' basis. Heads will be sold without a handle. You can purchase a Charcoal Goods razor handle or use most existing razor handles threaded metric M5.

Phase 2 - Begin accepting and processing custom orders for the new razor head design. No new razor handles will be manufactured this year.

Phase 3 - If there is sufficient interest, the Everyday razor head will be made available in Stainless Steel. Unfortunately, matching Stainless steel razor handles will not be available this year.

Phase 4 - Increase production of Level 1, 2, and 3 razor heads and add them to the 'Ready to Ship' section.

Phase 5 (2022) - Purchase new CNC lathe to re-start production of razor handles in a variety of designs and materials.

Keep me posted Jimmy if you ever see Hammered SS Handle I’ll appreciate it a lot and yes I will pay for shipping and all.

Agree 100%!

I’m looking forward to getting my Copper Level 3 SB head back in my den. Worse thing I did was sell it thinking he was coming out with 2nd Gen.Only razor I truly have remorse about selling.

Also will ask for a level 4 lol

How did the copper differ from the brass? I feel the same way about the CG G1 Lv3 brass I had. Great little razor with the hammered handle.

It wasn’t that it was any different shave wise although my brass Level 3 is a OC so not quite as smooth but the damn razor was a work of art, shaved great and like a idiot I believed that the 2nd Gen would even be better so I sold it before there was a Copper Level 3 so not one of my best moves. Lol

I’ve shaved with a Lv 1 and it’s a nice daily shaver when you don’t have a lot of growth.
