I know that my comment above about flipping probably sounds a little off-tune in that regard, since it wasn’t at all in line with what Alan was discussing in starting this thread. I just know that it’s bound to happen, and it’s gotten more prevalent that it bugs me quite a bit when I see it so often (more than it should, I know I shouldn’t sweat “the small stuff”). I’ve always thought that flipping hardware like that is somewhat disrespectful to the artisan, let alone the people in the wetshaving community. Even now I just saw a couple things get listed here that I know someone is trying to make 100% profit on, and there are clearly folks that have no forum activity other than flippIng things from one group to another.
I dunno, just makes these groups less interesting when there’s fewer engaging discussions and more activity trying to make a profit off another member. I’ll probably get booted at some point for calling people out, maybe it will be a sign that less time on wetshaving forums is needed
To some extent I can understand why someone would flip shaving equipment. That, however, is not the purpose of a shaving forum like this, at least not as I understand why this forum exists. It is not EBay.

I am here because I simply enjoy this fun hobby that I stumbled upon several years ago. I do have a Charcoal Goods razor (not the most valuable early gen equipment) with a couple of additional handles. I love shaving with this equipment and none of it will be sold. OTOH, I have seen a number of instances where Charcoal Goods equipment has sold for prices which are well in excess of what it originally sold for. The market already exists. I don't know what a specific seller paid for the equipment on offer. Nor do I know what their particular personal situation is. They may need money to fund an emergency need. That said, I do not believe forums like this are the appropriate place to flip equipment for profit.

While this differs from any definition encountered in multiple Masters programmes and corporates, concurred that purchasing with the primary intent of profiting from a quick resale to the exclusion of use value runs contrary to the spirit of the various fora and social media groups, predatory actually.

Brian’s offered the most artistic artisan handles and was among the first to produce different metals and base plates along with several accessories. The variety of Charcoal Goods was tremendous and his products will be missed. I wish him the very best in his future activities.

I have yet to see it albeit not active on social media nor many fora; no doubt though, it likely occurred already or imminent.

It's not new, we had an "incident" over a copper handle a year or two back
