I signed up back in April for the wait list and was in the 330 range, that said I checked last month and I was around 160.  Logged into the site tonight and could not find the list link so I shot them an email.  Brian explained he had the company hosting the list shutdown but he had a backup list and I was 299....ROFL what the hell.  Anyone else been on Charcoal Goods wait list with similar experiences?

I'm a very proud owner of a Charcoal Goods Level 3 open comb in antique brass. Simply put, it's my favorite among the 60 or so razors I've tried (most of which I still own). I can't picture a better razor but, nonetheless, I signed up for his waitlist many months ago to buy another L3 open comb (with perhaps a different material and/or finish). I'm still a couple of months away...

Does this delay bother me? Not a bit. Brian at Charcoal is a guy (not Amazon), in fact a great guy, making a living by himself as an artisan. He's dealt with many physical moves, and thus setting up many shops to create his art, with all the R&D, shop setup, logistics, marketing, customer service, IT, internet vendors, etc., that goes along with it.

I understand the frustration of delayed gratification. I encourage all to exercise patience as the business model develops. When you receive your Charcoal Goods product(s), I suspect you will forget all about the wait...

Unfortunately seems to not be his fault as he posted this on his website.

- The company that hosts the waiting lists shut down their servers. I do have a backup copy of the list, but you can no longer check your position.

He's a good guy and responds to emails pretty quickly so you have no worries just wait it out like everyone else and be happy when you get that email that says you can now place your order.

I received an email explaining what happened ... apparently this is a self inflicted error.  I signed up twice ... once with yahoo and another with gmail and it was the gmail showing 299 but the yahoo is showing around 150.

The delay does not bother me in a situation like this ... I signed up for a what I knew was a long wait list.  My concern was that after almost 8 months my number moved up then back substantially.  As I understand it now this was not the case and it was due to me signing up with my other email.  I am looking forward to the email notice for this razor... its been a long wait but I am sure it will be worth it in the end.

I have a couple of razors from him. My second razor I had to wait a significant amount of time. However it was well worth the wait. The level 3 razor is by far the best razor I have ever used. I know wait lists can be frustrating, but I would highly recommend waiting. I have both the level 2 & 3. Both are great, the level 3 is in its own class.

I recommend getting the dual comb, best of both worlds

Last I saw Brian wasn’t offering the OC anymore. I’m hoping it makes a comeback, I love my lvl 2 OC. I need to add one in Copper!

When I last communicated with Brian it was only the copper baseplate that he was not doing OC anymore as it was too soft and easy to bend

My last communication with Brian was in November and he stated the only Level 3 open comb option was only available in brass. No open combs will be made in copper as the metal is too soft. However, by the time my number comes up Stainless Steel might be available and it seems open comb will be offered.
