I don’t know if anyone else noticed this, but according to the production schedule on the Charcoal Goods website, there might be a sad day on the horizon for those (such as myself) who love Brian’s functional artwork.

From the website:
PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
August - Machine shop shutdown to prepare for family relocation. Website will continue to operate until stock is sold out. No current estimate for when/if production will resume after we move.
July - TBD

I sent him an e-mail, expressing my dismay. I did not, however, press for specifics (slow sales, etc.). He responded promptly and yes - he said that he is quite uncertain right now if starting back up again will be feasible after the move. It’ll be a sad day indeed if it’s the end of the road for Charcoal Goods.

Strange, I thought he sold out relatively quickly. Maybe this is not related to sales?

Yes, that's possible. It could be caring for a family member, or the logistics of relocating and setting up the machine shop again, etc. Like I said, I didn't ask for any details. I figure if he choses to give the particulars, then so be it. I'm certain, should he not continue with making razors, there will be plenty of bummed folks in our little corner of the world.

Unfortunate. I wish him the best. He made excellent products, and his customer service was wonderful.

Truly a sad day if Brian is unable to continue producing my (and many other's) favorite razor. However, with this being his third shop move since he began making razors, it might not be feasible anymore.

Wow ! I almost was going to sell a CG razor but procrastinated ... glad I didn't put it on the BST.

Hope the best for Brian, whatever the issues may be.

Was hoping to snag some extra handles. I have a level 2 in brass, copper and Stainless. Sad to hear if they can’t reopen, fantastic razors.

If your situation is similar to mine, timing isn't the best for the checking account right now for non-essential purchases. I'd love to grab a complete razor in stainless to go with my Lvl. 2  brass. If you can swing it, and want handles, he has a bunch on the website now - and they're all going to be discontinued. He's going to a single style of handle to reduce production costs and time. Not trying to enable...just providing a public service announcement.

I had an L2 and L3 Copper set with several handles. It's one of the very few razor(s) I regretted selling. I'd consider buying another but there are no L3 plates in Copper.

I do hope Brian continues to produce...and wish him good health no matter the direction of his business.
