About that price;
You'd think that for half the soap, it would be half the full price. But the French+ cost 14 dollars and regular French costs 20 dollars. I get that its a separate line so that might explain the increase in price. At 20 dollars, I am happy giving 6 bucks more for a soap I enjoy more, and get 4oz more of.

I've never tried Caties, and since lavender and fougere are my two favorite scents I could not pass this up!

Most artisans and soaps in general are a better deal for larger soaps. Soap Commander for instance does the same thing, their 3oz seasonal soaps are $10 and their 6oz regular line soaps are $15. It's normal to offer a lower price when buying a larger quantity of anything really.

As for the French + recipe, it does include jojoba which is a very expensive oil compared to most other oils. However, only a very small amount is required in a soap which is why Catie's has it at the end of the ingredients, meaning the least percentage. Still, it is a very expensive oil nonetheless, especially if purchased from a reputable wholesaler known for carrying quality oils.

That's not true for most products. For the French vs French+, it's like buying a 40ct regular strength Tylenol and expecting 20ct maximum strength to be half the cost. And CB is smaller scale production than goods we find at the grocery store. Then there's the fixed cost that didn't change outside of the quantity (jars, labels, etc).

I mean, buy whatever. Just saying it shouldn't be expected that half the quantity = half the price.

If it was exactly half the price for smaller size then people might complain that buying twice the quantity isn't cheaper than half. Lol!

I want to add that even at $14 for 4oz, it is still cheaper than many other artisans. Look how many are $15 for 4oz these days, and many of them are newer companies that don't have as strong a reputation as Catie's has. There's no doubt when you buy Catie's you are getting a quality soap with a quality fragrance.

I can only speak to the lavender one, but Chris said he didn't not use inexpensive lavender oils while making this soap, so this could account for the price.

MY Catie's Luxury Line came in yesterday and WOW .... great stuff. One of the nicest post shave feelings I have received from any soap. Great stuff. There is a large reshuffling of my top 5 soaps coming up and this is one moving in.

Yea, not really whining about it, but it did catch me off guard at first until I compared everything out. It really isnt an expectation of mine either. The French+ is a good product, even though the scents weren't for me. Thats why I will be happy with with the standard line and the heavier tubs. Just as effective for me.

The luxury line has shea butter and the jojoba appears to be a higher percentage used due to where it is listed in the ingredients. As a result, I suspect it would have a much better post shave than the other lines.

I got Royal Garden when French+ first came out before I realized I'm not a rose guy. There's wasn't a scent profile in that line that interested me until the Tactical Support soap was released. I agree - the main line of soaps has more interesting stuff

I did do a split with another forum member. I had QCV and he had LPV, so we traded 4oz of each. That's sort of like paying half for half the quantity!
