I am currently shaving with the Carbon CX pass-around (with 3 plates).  I plan to compare the Carbon CX to the GC .84 in my review.  IMHO, the bottom line for any razor is the shave it provides with the users blades of choice.  The GC .68 and .84 are CNC high quality razors at a ridiculously low price when compared to the competition (razors which are of similar design).  The GC is not a highly polished work of art, but is a great shaving tool for a very affordable price.  IMHO, unless a Wolfman, H&S, Timeless or Carbon can provide a better shave than a reasonably priced equivalent, why spend two to twenty times more?  If the GC is provides 98% of the shave you desire, and the super premium razors provide 99-100% at a much greater cost...is the 1% better shave worth the cost difference?  To me, that is the essence of comparing a GC to the Carbon.  Tonight, I had one of the best shaves of my life with the Carbon CX, and it could be that the extra 2% is worth the cost difference!

I had the original carbon Cx, and it's not close at all to the .84 GC. The GC was very mild and felt like it has neutral/negative blade exposure. The carbon is much more efficient with its positive exposure.

For the Carbon CX pass-around, is soaking the unassembled razor in boiling water for 10 minutes considered "sanitized" and also safe for the razor including finish. I do not have Barbicide. I am also next on the list.

Never boil Stainless Steel. Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner/disinfectant, warm soapy water with mild detergent. Finalize with Isopropyl Alcohol, good to go...

I can find warm soapy water. Disinfectant and isopropyl alcohol make toilet paper easy to find. I do have some Dettol cleaner/disinfectant spray from reading British mystery novels that may not have expired.
