Must say that Captain’s Choice is a nice company, packing, free samples, hand written note -  Ship Shape of a supplier.
Yesterday got their Copper shaving bowl. Did not like the tarnish the bowl presented, captured under a nice layer of varnish.
Stripped the varnish with paint remover, eliminated the tarnish with vinagre and salt (a few seconds in the solution) dried and re applied Varnish.

This is a before manipulating the bowl

I guess not everyone likes the aged patina look. I quite like it but I did eventually strip the inside of the bowl. I wore through the varnish in the inside bottom but it wasn’t wearing evenly so I just took it all off the inside and polished it and did not reapply varnish as it would just wear off again.

Yes, the Hammered finish is so awesome, removing the patina reveals it even more

I opted for an outdoor high-end varnish and applied 2 nice coats, hope it endures

That looks pretty good, I had the rolled edge version until recently when I upgraded to the heavyweight version, love this bowl. Will the varnish naturally dissipate over time?

I eventually wore through the varnish on the inside but the outer finish stays in tact.

This outdoor varnish is supposed to be really resistant,
I am guessing that continues lathering will take it’s toll, we will see
Anyhow, is is pretty easy to add a new layer if needed and when the time comes
