I'm new to the whole injector world (except for a brief dalliance in the 70s when they cost around 2 dollars with blades).

I got a Lady Schick in original packaging from another DFS member, and rather than try it out, I went out and acquired 3 other injectors in case I liked them. I know, I know. I'm looking for professional counseling Smile

Anyway, one of the Schicks was sold to me as a Type G. I've looked at the information at Safety Razors and with that and a little more research into the patent numbers, I'm pretty sure this is a Type G.

What I don't know is which variant it is: I would guess it's either a G1 or a G4 (the Schick '66'). The issue is that from what I've been able to tell, the '66' came with a navy blue handle, and this one looks black. It's got the seam down the middle of the handle, which I understand is characteristic of the G1.

I'd very much appreciate any help you Schick/Eversharp fans could provide.

BTW, I shaved with it today, and was very impressed at how smoothly and easily it shaved (I used a Personna blade)

It's a G1 manufactured between 1946 - 1955. Beautiful piece!

That's a very nice looking Schick, Michael P !  I'm glad it provided you with a smooth shave!  Congrats!

They do tend to become a bit of an obsession if you're not careful. Smile

Thanks, Blade4vor . I hear you about the obsession part.

So far, I've got this G1 (thanks again for the identification), a Revere handled one (looks nice with the other stainless razors) and an black handled adjustable (an M style, if I'm not mistaken), and a yellow-handled Lady Schick still in the blister pack.

Assuming I am not cured of this bad case of RAD any time soon, and knowing that the G1 provided a couple of really good shaves (as did the Revere and the Adjustable on 5 for most of the shave), which type next? I'm intrigued by the I series, specifically the I2, as it has that feature that allows easy cleaning.

Thanks again, Freddie, Todd, and Rob for your help!

I really like the type I. The I and the J have identical heads, but the Type J has a longer handle. I have both(of course Blush), but prefer the shorter handle of the I just a touch more. The I2 Hydro-Magic is nice that it opens to rinse and clean. With the blade installed, you can open the Hydro-Magic feature to rinse and it will hold the blade in the razor while rinsing. It was a slick idea.

You may like the E2, also. It will have more blade exposure than the later models, but it can be opened, too. The E2 does not hold the blade in the razor once opened.

Thanks, Jeff, yes, I got very lucky with this one.

And thanks Rob, for the advice: I found a nice Hydro Matic in good shape in the box that should be coming in a week or so, and I really like the feature of being able to open and clean.

Could it be that Schick and Gillette really had this nailed so many years ago? Don't get me wrong, I love the new razors, the gleaming stainless, the craftsmanship. But I'm gobsmacked by how good these vintage razors shave!

Not all E2s can be opened. Always good to be weary of that
