Can a brush be left to dry upright?

I have a vintage Gillette holder and the only way it takes my brush is upright. After shaving, rinsing and shaking water off - will I be ruining my brush if it is left to dry upright?

Yea you’re fine, especially with a synthetic.

Yep. The only way I do it.  My climate is dry though.  I shake em out good and have several in rotation so,they get lots of,drying time.

All of my brushes sit upright and always have. Never an issue. I squeeze water out gently and 1 or 2 snap/shakes into sink. Light towel strop and sit upright on shelf. Drying brushes since 2007 without incident. More pics of the Gillette holder please

And I used to live in a city with very high humidity, throughout the entire year. Had never had a problem in over 11 years.

Could have killed my restraint

Once you have shaken out what water you can, you're left with moisture clinging to the fibers. Evaporation takes care of the what's left. In my feeble mind, evaporated moisture moves more easily up into the air away from the fibers when placed fibers up. I just think moisture gets trapped near the base of the knot when facing down and takes longer to evaporate. In reality though, hanging a brush facing down works just fine too.
