I find it hard to believe that there are only a few of us (based on previous posts in the lounge) that have campers, four wheelers, UTVS, fish, hunt (if the latter isn’t allowed I apologize) and like a great shave in the wild doing so.... let’s make this the outdoor shave thread..... getting muddy, stinky, and still enjoying a great shave!! Pictures of your toys and your shaves would be great!!!

Did a lot of camping and river fishing in my younger days, but eventually traded in my flat bottomed boat for a Tracker PT 175 TXW.

I know there’s plenty bigger and faster, but the 175 gets me where I need to go in comfort and with dry feet. I still miss non-tidal rivers and smallies, but large mouth bass are fun too, and a lot closer to where I live now.

Interesting topic.

I fly fish.  We have a camp in Vermont. I fish off of our dock in the pond for warm water species or in a rushing mountain stream

This is me fishing the Wells River

While not 1/10 the boat that HighSpeed  has, I also fly fish from a little rowboat. We have a trolling motor but early in the morning it is easier to grab the oars than wrestle with the motor and battery.

This is my indoor shaving space.

And weather permitting, this is my outdoor shaving spot - our deck.

Beautiful, beautiful post PhilNH5 !!  I used to fly fish the Shenandoah and Upper Potomac rivers, sometimes wading, sometimes in a flat-bottomed bass boat.  It is one of the most exquisite fishing experiences IMHO - quiet (with brief explosions of bass), no jet skis, and the presence or absence of bald eagles, osprey, and swallows to tell you what the day will be like.  I also wade fished with a 3 weight for char in the headwaters of the Rappahannock and Rapidan Rivers - also exquisite IMO.  I do miss all that.

Although I fished a bit as a kid, I got my start in earnest when our then 3 year old son said on his third birthday (in February) that  he wanted to go fishing.  To our surprise, he did not forget about it in the summer.  We asked him what kind of boat he wanted to go in.  He said "I like the kind with an upstairs and a downstairs."  Well, we started more humbly at Burke Lake Park, in electric powered john boats.  You rented them for the day and could take a break to go to the ice cream parlor or ride the kiddy train (whoo-hoo!).  It was all very good.

I still have all four of my fly rods, although I haven't used them in a decade or two - the #3 for char in small mountain streams, the #6 for low clear water springtime situations (when the natural bait tends to be smaller), and the bread-and-butter #8 and #9 weight.

Thanks again for your post.  Memory Lane is a nice place to visit from time-to-time.

Three Points? Or rather Harpers Ferry area? Beautiful area. We used to live on the Eastern Shore of MD. Had a triathalon training partner who lived in Frederick before it was the boomtown it has become. We rode to what everyone called Three Points a few times. You can see 3 states - MD, VA and WV.

My wife and I drove there once and only then did I realize it was Harper's Ferry Smile. Difference between pedaling and driving governing what one pays attention too. Harpers Ferry was lovely even as a tourist town.

As I said, beautiful area. Would have loved to fish that. Though I lived in MD for 10 years and never had a MD fishing license. A PA non-resident license was cheaper. Reciprocity meant I could fish the Susquehanna River on both sides of the state line up to the first dam in PA.

Even though we own property in VT I must purchase a non-resident license at twice the price of a resident.  NH (my home state) and VT are separated by the Connecticut River for almost their entire border. But NH "owns" the CT river up to the high water mark on the VT side. Odd.
So there is NO reciprocity between the two states Sad

Thanks for posting.

I lived in Alexandria VA for 28 years and fished the Upper Potomac for many of those years - pretty much every public put-in from Riverbend Park (the first safe place upstream of Great Falls) though Harpers Ferry.  I do not recall a place called "Three Points", although Google Maps shows a Three Points Cycle shop near the C&O canal in Brunswick.  Brunswick was one of our favorite put-ins - excellent access and good fishing.  A few miles downstream is the Point of Rocks ramp, another favorite. Might you be thinking of Point of Rocks?

Maryland owns the Potomac and has (had) reciprocity with Virginia up to any creek mouths on the Maryland side.  We used to get out-of-state Maryland freshwater licenses, which were not terribly expensive, because the creeks were sometimes the only or the most productive places.

I think the locals in Frederick called it 3 points because there was a viewing area were you could see all 3 states. It was not an official name. But in the bike shops every called it the "3 point ride". Hence my surprise to learn the town were were biking to was Harper's Ferry.

Loved Old Town Alexandria. We used to shop there quite a bit. Especially at Christmas. Strolling Victorian carolers. A top hatted lamplighter lighting the street lamps. All pretty cool.

In fact I was disappointed when I moved to New England to find an absence of such places. OTA was more of a quintessential New England town than the ones in New England.

Nice pics and fly fishing is about as cathartic as it gets. Peaceful and relaxing... I grew up at the foot of the big horn mountains and fly fishing was a staple of our Camping trips. I was blessed in that my Father was a teacher so we camped numerous times each summer growing up and were afforded the opportunity to go in the middle of week when it was quiet and there were few other people on the mountain. Sadly, in Eastern SD fly fishing isn't much of an option as one has to head West river into the hills to hunt trout with a fly rod....

Great pictures....
