Perhaps it's a bit early in the morning for me to see this clearly but in the theoretical situation someone does purchase this bowl (highly unlikely) is the seller not asking for considerably more than the usual price of the bowl (more than $700 over his usual price)?

He does make very nice bowls.

'{A note to the ever vigilant supporters of my shop: I know what you are thinking, the price is preposterously high. I can assure you, I haven't finally lost it! This bowl has been submitted for consideration in the 2022 Etsy Design Awards, which carries a grand prize of $20,000. So, if you can't live without it, I'd be happy to sell it for $1 over the grand prize amount, non refundable of course. However, I'd recommend you just message me for a pre-order bowl!}'

Oh I saw that too. I took it as probably spoken for or not really for sale, something  strange.
I didn't take it seriously though, sort of funny to me.
Of course nobody will pay that.

It is a plastic bowl with swirly patterns. I think there is a price ceiling for this sort of thing, and it is probably around $50. Anything beyond that price is probably dependent on the buyer believing the object to be art - which I assure you a plastic bowl for shaving soap could never be.

Looking at the other items this seller offers - mainly plastic shaving brushes - they are all rather unrefined and amateurish, so I do not see a great deal of skill in evidence.

Oh good I thought it was just me who thought 75$ was too much for those bowls. I don't care how cool the patterning is unless there is gold or some other precious metal embedded his bowls are way over priced in my opinion. Especially considering you can buy a completely copper shaving bowl for 60$.

Many times on ETSY you will see ridiculous prices quoted when one of a kind pieces are being produced to your custom specifications. The seller does not expect anyone to pay the quoted amount, but wants you to communicate directly with your specifications. Then a price will be quoted.

In this case, the bowl shown will be submitted to as a contest entry. If the entry actually wins, then it will be quite valuable. If the entry does not win, it will be sold at a more reasonable price. The same thing happens at state fairs. If a prize steer wins the blue ribbon in judging, local restaurants might bid an extravagant amount at auction for the privilege of serving steaks cut from a prize winner and restaurant patrons will pay a premium price for those steaks. Steers that fail to win a ribbon will be sold at the prevailing price for beef on the hoof.

If you like the design of the shave bowl, contact the artist and have him make you one. It will still be expensive if it is a one of a kind handmade work, but I won't be as expensive as the price shown for the contest entry.

I have this bowl. Same design. Paid 50 bucks. That’s about what it’s worth. Just a plastic mold.
