Are there any reviews or pics from a paying customer?    The blog post, then the thread claiming "buy this soap" (that no one has heard of) is all a little too timely for me, to not have a bunch of red flags go up.

"I was first introduced to the “Classic Shaving Soap” from someone’s SOTD post and after seeing that photo I became more intrigued. so I contacted Martin requesting samples. When the parcel arrived it contained a product information card, Classic Shaving Soap, Beard Conditioner, Beard Oil and Lip balm"

I know what you mean. I knew about the soap before that review because The Handlebar Supply carries it, however, it's sold out at present.

My site inventory counter goes into "UH OH!" mode when a product is almost out of stock to help prevent overselling- Having said that I do still have a few jars of it available that I just added this morning.

I bought it from THBS. A good soap, not 'great'. I think the asking price is fair since it's a very hard soap and something I'm glad to have tried, but not a must keep.

Lather is dense and thick. Slickness is medium/low. Decent water tolerance. Scent's light citrus floral? Post shave is very good, however. I haven't gotten a chance to really dial it in, however so take my initial impressions with some salt.

Gripes: It takes a bit longer then normal to load due to it's hardness/density. It initially comes with a deep impression of a honeycomb, while a neat point, i found that it over-aerates the soap and it becomes foamy when loading; I had to crush down the impression to make it more manageable.

It looks nice but a little pricey for 4 ounces...Just my opinion. I will be looking for it at the Whole Food store in my area.

Thanks,

Yes sir. I was waiting to fist dial it in, but at this point i'm getting distracted. I have my NY law exam on Monday and I'll post my preliminary review after so I don't think about all the ways I failed. =x

I am a paying customer and I am NOT looking for anything for free I am sharing this information with others from the goodness of my heart and want to share joy that I received with others, everybody can choose what they want to do

I did pay for the soap and I didn't get it for free. And I am so happy that I did. I have over 50 soap so I do have a good reference point for comparison

next time my wife goes into whole foods, I'll have her check out the shaving soaps/creams to see if anything like this is popping up and/or available at our local stores.

Whereas I see it the opposite. If people see bloggers praising products and giving positive feedback....they are more likely to get more free products from other artisans.

If I pay $20 of my own personal money, I am way more likely to be critical if it didn't meet my expectations.

We just see it differently, that's all. Hopefully the soap lives up to the praise if people buy it.
I did buy the soap and was not looking and I'm not looking for anything for free. I'm extremely happy that's why I started to post why not share joy with others. There are good honest people in this world
