Someone just gave me one. The fit & finish is nice and it’s very shinny. The fact that it doesn’t work is a shame. I thought I’d keep it and use the handle but it doesn’t fit the razors I was going to put it on so I’ll probably let it go.

I received my Asylum McMurphy 17-4 today.  I have number 083.  I suspect the pictures of 098 on Bullgoose were taken with the handle not tightened.  The pictures below were taken with the handle tightened.  The cap fits well to the baseplate, edges appear to be straight and gaps small and consistent.  It has that solid, tight-fitting feel of well-machined parts with tight tolerances.  I have not shaved with it yet.

I owned the original 17-4, bought the one Phil initially had made, which he refunded immediately once the error was noticed. I did not order this one I look forward to people’s reviews

To me, both of the new "fixed" models look different. #73 looks like there is some play between the top cap and baseplate, and some shoddy machining. #83 looks like everything fits tighter and the machining looks nice and flat. Also, the middle of the handle on #83 looks slightly over finished? This could all be the pictures and lighting of course, but just an observation.

Agreed. #73 looks kinda rough. It would got back. #83 looks like the cap and plate fit as intended. Kinda odd they are so different.
