Maybe it's me but I'm at a loss with this whole saga:

First: A bad business deal gets dragged through the forum.

Second: Phil decides to contract these razors out on his own to a machine of his choosing. The machine shop neglects to put the bevel on the comb making the razor un-operable. Whoever inspected and packaged the razors did not catch the error, and the razors were sent out. Phil does the right thing and credits everyone who received the razor.

Third: Phil makes the decision to send out " machine finished " razors in the condition as we have seen above.

As I say I'm really at a loss.

Shit happens and Phil has taken it on the chin as of late with this and the Paradigm fiasco (no need to rehash that, old news). Truthfully, he’s done more than a good job, it’s been great considering the finances that were involved. He’s been forthcoming and put out refunds without hesitation. And trust me, that’s no small feat when it involves thousands of $$$ and equally as important, his credibility. Chink in the armor for a couple of screw ups, I can forgive that as everywhere else the man has been exemplary in his business in its totality. That’s just me and in my personal dealings with him. He’s been a true professional and a gentleman.

Chalk it up as another learning experience. It happens to all of us in perhaps a smaller or larger scale in some point of our lives. It’s called being human and even in our sacred hobby that most hold dear, it is not immune to f*** ups. Learn and move on is all that can be done…..

I don't recall reading about any quality issues with the Asylum Rx. But there have been a number of quality issues with just about every other razor under the Asylum Shave Works brand: Asylum Evolution (reported blade alignment issues), Asylum 17-4 (re-called) and now the "machine finished" Asylum McMurphy.

The polished Asylum McMurphy looks good, but with that track record I'm no longer prepared to drop that kind of money on any Asylum razor without having read a number of firsthand reviews.

Seems like Phil needs to be a little tougher and stringent with his machinist partners.

I have dealt with Phil but these rasor issues make me a tad ill maybe Phil should be a little QA to the products he is selling.

It would seem that you left out the most important part about the "machined finished" razors being they were requested by the people that received them!! He didn't just randomly send them out to people...

He put "machine finished" in quotes for a reason.

My point was that the people that ordered said "machined finish" razors knew that the razors were "not" actual finished razors prior to ordering them from him!! I replied to the post above because the person either didn't know that or specifically left that info out as to make it look like Phil doesn't care what condition his product looks like that he's shipping!!
