Need to figure out an inexpensive brush all i have are the kabuki knotted brushes and a VDH boar...help me out.. Tell me some please......

semogue I have the 1305 which is dyed to look like badger. Sort of. The Owners Club models are good and I also have models 2000, 1250 and 1470.
with boars pre soaking is important and they also improve over time as the bristles break in. I used a scuttle- dirty bird or a moss which both have a fairly coarse texture inside the lather bowl. I won’t use those scuttles with my good badger brushes but they seemed to accelerate the split end development / break on in the boars.

Thanks... I havent seen any brushes other than VDH in stores around here and i have never had a scuttle either.. How are they?

The Semogue Owners Club boar is outstanding, IMO. There’s a vendor in Portugal who usually has it for under $30 ON eBay.
