Same temp' here (Maine) at the same time Phil. Winter has finally arrived. But I can't complain, there has been little snow and winter arrived late. Hopefully it'll leave early. As "short" as it's been this year I've already had enough. :-)
As I write we have possibly 4"of snow on the ground. That's very unusual for Maine in February. Most times it's 4'. No complaints here other than winter has already been too long. :-))

You gotta love how they sensationalize the weather to try and make it into some form of entertainment. The weather channel is the worst with their naming of every little snow storm that comes through, trying to make it into some hurricane-like event every time. It's ridiculous because then it becomes a "boy who cried wolf" situation where when a really serious storm happens, people might not take it seriously because they're so used to the forecasters over-hyping every weather system that moves in.
I have a theory on this. Technology has advanced to the point where the media weather is no longer needed. Be it a home weather station like I use and/or especially a phone weather app you can get good accurate forecasts instantly and anywhere. Who needs to watch the news, listen to the radio or read the paper for weather.
Big media recognizes this so they sensationalize the weather to draw viewers or readers.

Very wisely spoken. I agree wholehearted
