British Aristocrat Razors

How do you differentiate between different generations of British Aristocrat Razors?

Does every razor from the same generation have same head?

I have no clue, but I just had these English Flat Bottom Tech razors and razor heads arrive today! I really really like the way the EFBT shaves, and so I bought one for each of my sons.  Each of them also gets a NOS in the box with blade bank 1946-47 Gillette Aristocrat.

I hope someday they like/appreciate/use them!  My oldest is 13.

As a general rule:

1st Gen is an open comb (often seem in a #15 set);
2nd Gen is the safety bar version of the 1st Gen, with crimped handle);
3rd Gen is newer handle (rocket-style TTO) and flat, heavier baseplate;
4th Gen is the same handle as the 3rd but with lighter, triangle stamped baseplate.

1st and 2nd Gen heads are non-notched center bar, and 3rd and 4th Gen are notched center bar.

This gentlemen is correct and if you want to read a lot about the Aristocrats go to the US vs Britain Shave Off Showdown thread on B&B where I shaved with every US and British Aristocrat. Besides given you an idea of how they each shave and compare in efficiency and other characteristics there is a lot of information on the history of the Aristocrats that came from guys that really know their stuff and even Mr Razor chimed in now and then. It’s about 45 pages long. I feel very privileged to have shaved with them all.

I will say my 3 Favorites are
1. 1st Gen British Aristocrat #15 OC
2. 2nd Gen British Aristocrat SB from a 21 set
3. The 1934 US Aristocrat which was the 1st Aristocrat.

They are awesome razors.

That is a great thread for all there is to know about the Brit Aristocrats. I have had a few come and go. I still have a '34 and a '36 USA OC, and a couple of post war USAs. One no notch, one notched IIRC. Great shavers all.
