The basic idea: Purchase our un-scented shaving soap. Fragrances are sold separately in vials. Fragrance is added to your shaving bowl or on your loaded brush. You can use the same process to add fragrance to balm or for making your own splash.

The fragrance you want, at the strength you want.
Save space. A tub of shave soap, a couple of vial racks and a one oz bottle provide the same fragrance options as 24 tubs of shave soap and 24 bottles of splash.
Savings: Fragrance vial are 5 ml. Regular oils are $6 per vial and premium are $8. 5ml vials are good for 55 highly scented shaves.
Improved fragrance quality: Straight from the tap vs being in soap for some time.Easy matching: This makes it easy to have matching soap, balm and splash.
Traveling is a breeze. Take a small container of soap and some scents vials and you have variety without having to bring multiple tubs of soap.
Pay the big bucks for a tub of soap whose scent you don’t like? Maybe you can fix it.

Thanks for the explanation. I have "revived" old soaps that have lost their aroma simply by putting a few splashes of aftershave on the soap and letting it sit with the lid on. Works pretty good for about a dozen shaves.

Essential oils contain organic solvents (ex.. terpenes, esters, phenols and ketones,..) some more than others. Organic solvents soften or dissolve many plastics. Same with fragrance oils, those can also damage many plastics. Glass, steel or HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) is a safer bet. Also keeping the dilution/concentration below 5% is a good and safe(er) habit of storing in PET containers/bottles. My bet, the oils were not diluted enough or too strong of a concentration. In short, Oils are volatile.

Like Max mentioned, the oil constituents are reacting and eating away at the material the shave bowl is made of.

They definitely did eat away at the bowl to my surprise but I could see what had happened.

Oh that's interesting I never knew that could happen.

I see they're they're selling different bottles because of lid leakage on these at your own essential oils.

I had some back and forth messages with Pete and if I want another one of these bowls I will have to buy it myself he's says he's not responsible for the situation. What would Judge Judy say? Lol

Sounds like he might send a much less expensive SS bowl of his company's but hasn't happened yet after a few days and not the bowl used.

Apparently shame on me for not knowing the lids were bad and buying a special rack to put them in, which I see is available now.
I guess I didn't see any warning about the solvent effect either come to think of it

 That's the update.

Ditto!

I'm glad you reached out to Pete, but not for the reasons I anticipated.  Anyway, like Dave said, I'm sorry Keith.
