Blades: Remove after every shave?

After my shave, I disassemble, clean and dry the razor with a soft terry towel. I rinse the blade in hot water and pat dry with a soft terry towel. Place blade in a Frugal Shave blade dryer (have 5). Typically, use each blade twice, except for Polsilver and Feather which I use 3 times. After razor is thoroughly air dried, I store most of my razors in some type of leather case (Parker, RR, WCS, etc.). All of my newer razors are in like new condition. Vintage razors are in same condition I received them or commercially restored condition. The key to having nice things is to keep them that way.

I agree Captainjonny   When someone says “it’s been rode hard and put away wet” they are explaining poor condition. A razor and a blade are tools and the proper care of those tools ensures that they will remain in top condition and provide long service. 

I only use a blade once, then into the blade bank.
Rinse and wipe the razor. Done.

I’m not sure if the “do not wipe “ warning is for safety reasons or to avoid wiping off a coating that may have been applied by the manufacturer.

I've read about not wiping the blade to protect the coating but can't imagine that would hinder performance or integrity of the blade. The business end of the DE blade is certainly wiped with each stroke against your beard. I wipe the blade to remove any gunk that doesn't rinse off.

I wipe em after every use, and store em properly never had any issues with performance

Here’s my quandary; I generally have a rotation of 4 different razors to choose from each morning.  Those on-deck razors get a fresh blade when they come off the bench and they stay in the game until I feel tugging.  When the blade is shot it’s removed, the razor is scrubbed and put away and another comes off the bench.  But while it’s got a blade in it I don’t do anything more than a good rinse.  Works for me BUT kitchen cutlery, pocket knives, axes and hatchets, get a wash, dry, oil regularly.  My daily sharp razor seems to be getting short shrifted.  Perhaps because of the disposable nature of the blade?  As anal as I am about edged implements I don’t see myself ever removing a razor blade daily.

Yeah, that’s how I felt when this thread first started. Then the idea started to work on me until I thought, you know, it makes sense for a number of reasons to disassemble and rinse daily and that was enough. The closer for me was probably the knowledge that it’s going to stay wet in that space inside the razor and nasty stuff thrives in dark, wet places. Just look at Gollum!

To be fair, some razors are worse than others for trapping soap etc but I treat them all the same. I have no idea if blade performance is affected one way or the other by the handling involved.
