I'm not an unbiased source, but the Sabre (L2 in particular) is more efficient for me than the OB. Both Sabres are designed to be similarly smooth like the OB, albeit without a hinge. That smooth and easy to use experience from the OB was part of my inspiration for the Sabre design. I took the aspects I enjoyed (user friendly, smooth, comfortable) and changed or eliminated those I disliked.

The good news is you can try out a Sabre for 30 days risk-free.

Shane,
Didn’t know about he 30 day trial. I’ll definitively be looking into getting one then in the next couple of weeks. Also, thanks for the reply unbiased or not.

Hmmm. What's OB? OneBlade?

I know little about that razor, but I have owned an L2 for several weeks. I periodically alternate back and forth with a GEM Flying Wing. I find the L2 gives a slightly closer shave. I use the L2 with a Bulldog style handle and appreciate the control the knurling gives. I find the close tolerances of the head make blade mean that cleaning/changing blades requires more attention than the GEM.

Overall I'm quite please with my L2. It's a keeper.

Now if I could find a black anodized titanium handle for it...

Sorry! OB is sometimes used for OneBlade.

I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying the Sabre! I’m sure someone out there has a black Ti handle for you. Smile

It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

Time to get ready Gents. The best modern GEM available in the market today, imo is the Sabre. And the polished versions go on sale today. I’m getting a strong urge to purchase one of those beauties.... For those that are considering, I’d highly recommend it in either machined or polished. Provides a hell of a shave...

For anyone who has or has tried both plates - does anyone prefer their L1?

I know you’re looking for member reviews, but I can confirm that L1 sells very well. I think L2 got a lot of attention that can make it seem like L1 is disliked or unpopular. Sales figures and customer emails don’t support that.

My pleasure. It’s a mild razor and if that’s your shaving preference it’s a perfect choice.
