First shave with the L2 and I loved it. For me it was just as smooth as the L1 but definitely more efficient. One pass N- S and I was done with my face and upper lip. 2nd pass S- N on my neck and with touch up in my trouble spot under the jaw I had BBS and no nicks, weepers or burn. I think Shane nailed it for me, clean, close without paying a price like I do with some of my SE’s. I am most surprised. On how smooth it shaves yet definitely more efficient
Got my L2 in today with the stand. Held off on shaving since Sunday, so there was 4 days of real good growth. Won't go in to too much details with prep and all. Just got my shower in, hot towel and loaded the Sabre & L2 plate with a 3 times used GEM SS ptfe.
I will say this and say this only. I thought it was a great shaver as it was with the L1 plate. Good efficiency with a very smooth face feel shave. 3 pass was the norm and results were always DFS or BBS finish, period. L2 plate just raised it another notch. Still keeps the smoothness on face, but the efficiency is turned up for the better. A 2 pass, light buff on the chin, dropped the mic performance and walk off the stage finish. 2 tiny weepers, one on the neck and one on the chin. Alum made quick work of it. A fabulous finish. Sabre with the L1 & L2 is the best one two punch in the business for a modern GEM razor. Everyday shaving, the L1 is perfect. 2-3 days it needs a little more work but it will get the job done. The L2, everyday shaving? Check. 2,3 or 4 days growth? Check. Mowed down my 4 days in 2 passes, wirey like steel hair with the slightest bit of irritation on the chin, but that was me being overzealous.
A great razor just made brilliant. Am I happy with it? Damn Straight I am.......

Before today I have never used a single edge/GEM bladed razor. I actually tried to avoid this altogether simply because I did not want to purchase a different type of blade. After reading up on GEM blades a bit, particularly longevity, I decided to give the Sabre a Level 2 a shot. I had talked with Shane prior to ordering to ask some questions and he does have the 30 day return policy so I figured it was a win win situation. Prior to using the razor and blade I decided to strop it a couple of times on my palm and just went for it.
The angle of the Sabre is very intuitive and I didn’t feel I had to overly pay attention while using it. I also never felt as if I were going to nick or cut myself (I didn’t). I cannot shave against the grain due to the likelihood of getting ingrown hairs on my chin and neck along with irritation; therefore, I did two passes with the grain and one across the grain pass. Not taking into account past shaves where I went against the grain, I have never gotten such a close shave using the 3 pass method I mentioned.
Minus an intentionally ignored area on my lower neck, this shave was right at BBS on my Sabre’s maiden voyage. The razor was super smooth and I got wonderful audible feedback during all 3 passes. My face felt great afterward and I had not one area of irritation! I don’t see how Shane could improve on the quality of the shave one can get out of the L2 head as I felt it was absolutely perfect.
Was this luck? Did someone slip in the “perfect” GEM blade? Did the sun, stars and moon align during my shave? I don’t know. What I do know is that the Sabre L2 is definitely a keeper and is something Shane should be proud of.
This is has NOT been a paid advertisement and I actually do not like doing gear reviews because I don’t always know what to say or how to say it. I wrote this because I think Shane has a real winner of a razor with this one.

It will be worth the wait amigo. It truly is an outstanding razor with the L2. Not that there was anything wrong with the L1, it's an amazingly smooth and efficient shaver. It's just that the L2 just ramps up the efficiency and just a wee bit of blade feel. And it still maintains great smoothness. How Blackland did, I don't know. But it's damn near perfect. For me at least.....
