I've had 5 shaves with the Sabre. My first was pretty good. Shaves 2 & 3 were terribly inefficient. My angle had creeped down to where I was scraping across rather than slicing through my stubble, which also led to a great deal of irritation (thanks Barrister's Reserve splash for the quick relief and healing). After correcting my angle my last 2 shaves, both on 2-days of growth, the results have been so close that I couldn't justify shaving the next day. I still need to improve on my pressure, especially along my lower neck, as I'm still getting a few weepers with each shave. The irritation I received from shaves 2 & 3 though has not returned even with a much closer result.
My stubble is dense with sensitive skin underneath. I cannot even shave with a DE blade without tearing my face up. Since I've seen both how efficient and inefficient this razor can be, I'm surprised to hear how some others weren't able to find a way to get the Sabre to work for them.
YMMV is such a crazy thing. I believe that Shane has created exactly what he was after here and for that I believe he can be proud. A different base plate could be interesting and I must say that I would be quite tempted to try it out as well. Even if one doesn't come, I'm still quite pleased with my pivotless OneBlade, erm I mean my Sabre.
