You're not really wrong, but that exact logic applies to every single item in wet shaving. Soaps still work like soap, blades are still sharp, brushes still lather, aftershave still smells nice, straight razors haven't changed, etc. New options aren't here to make the old ones obsolete, but to add to the experience by introducing a new take on an old idea. Modern and vintage gear both bring something to the table and most dens have room for a bit of both.

In addition, the razor is sexy as hell. One of the best looking razors I've ever seen.

You've got mad design skills, Shane.

I agree with the last few posts which is why I bought a new GEM SS razor. I'm just upgrading from the ones I already have.

I completely concur with Shane's remarks. However, with this new razor being stainless steel and its additional weight, it may add a very different dimension to the shaves that has not, to my knowledge, been present with the older and lighter weight SE ones.

I hope you gentlemen enjoy the shaver. Shy

My biggest issue with all of the vintage GEM razors is the small handle. I have a couple vintage razor heads that have been rethreaded to work with modern handles. The problem is the balance. It is way off. I think the modern take on GEM razors will give us what we are used to today while also maintaining proper balance and looking sharp as can be.

This one has been my favorite so far. Can't wait to try some of the new ones though.

I'm just not a fan of vintage razors; I prefer current ones. I do have a G-Bar that I absolutely love, but only because there have been (until very recently) no "modern" options for GEM-type blades.

I like the vintage razors, but have noticed that the quality of the shave was better from the razors that were NOS than from some of the used vintage ones that I have tried.
