I know, I’m sorry. I really sound like a salesman sometimes…

Obviously, not every razor works for everybody. And a couple of weeks ago, when I picked up the Blackbird after a short break, the first shave or two were a bit harsh. Then I found my stride again. And I’ve noticed that I find my stride with the Blackbird more than with any other razor. Which sometimes, in my excitement, leads me to hype it.

It’s my “goldilocks” razor thus far, and if anyone else has another favorite, I think they should enjoy that one to the fullest. After all, part of this interest in shaving is finding the things that work the best for our very individual needs.

Yup, I'm sold. Got a notice that they'll be available Saturday and pulling the trigger as an early birthday present to myself. Thank you for the input everyone.

Gravity, it looks like you've already ordered your Blackbird, so CONGRATS!

I have the Blackbird SB in the machined finish.  It has become my most used razor since I bought it this past Spring.  I still work in my vintage razors from time to time as I enjoy those razors, but I always seem to come back "home" to the Blackbird.

As far as blade feel, I seem to have a little bit different view from some other folks.  I sense quite a bit of blade feel with my Blackbird SB.  It doesn't feel anywhere near as aggressive as the iKon 104 Tech or anything like that, but I can definitely feel the blade.  As Matsilainen has said, commit to your Blackbird for 10-15 shaves to know how to get the best out of it.  That is the same advice Matthew gave me and it is very appreciated now.

I look forward to hearing your impressions after you have a chance to run the Blackbird through its paces.

That's how I feel sometimes when I talk about the Blackbird!  It isn't that I'm trying to sell the razor, but just that I'm trying to express how sold I am on the razor.  Of course, that was after you sold me on the razor.  Winking

Well said; I also feel like a shave with the Blackbird is familiar (like “home”) after using something else. I can always rely on it to get the job done well. I, too, experience a good bit of blade feel with the Blackbird. However, by using a shallow shaving angle, blade feel is slightly diminished while cutting efficiency still remains solid.

And I’m glad you’re sold on the razor! Was just being honest with you. Happy2 Gravity, keep us posted on your experience. I hope it’s a great one!

It's here! Still need to shave with it but it looks right at home.[Image: p2Dme9y.jpg]

I find I use a steeper angle than normal. I usually ride the cap but with this I ride the guard. A little blade chatter but still a great shave.
