Hello GlazedBoker, its good to see you hear as well! It is IMO, that the Blackland Osprey, is a fine piece of American engineering. IMO, it is far better then my Rex Ambassador, and my Merkur Futur. And while I do appreciate and love my vintage Fatboy razor, I'm sorry, but it just can't compete, with the sheer efficiency, that the modern Osprey can provide. To those who have super fine and thin whiskers, none of this is going to matter. But to those like myself, who have super dense, thick, course whiskers, efficiency and blade type, do matter a heck of a lot I tell you.

When I am doing a 7-day whisker shave, I can set the Osprey to setting level 8, for the WTG passes, and the Osprey will take down all the bulk without issue. Then I can do the XTG/DTG, and ATG following passes, on setting level's 4 through 5, for a nice efficient and smooth shave, for a full BBS shave. If I were doing a 2-day whisker shave, settings 4 to 5 would get it all done without issue. I am really glad that you are enjoying your Blackland Osprey razor, I love all the pictures that you share.

When I am finished using my Osprey razor, I take it apart, and give it a quick cleaning, and let it air dry for at least 16-hours, on my shave towel. Then I put it back together, and hang it on my wooden stand. Not many folks know, that this is a 3-piece adjustable razor. But people will realize its a 3-piece real quick when they see this picture!

Sunday morning is a moment or day that represents to me the pinnacle for a potential sublime shave. First, I give thanks to The Almighty. Next, I hit my brewer for a steaming hot cup of coffee that is to come. Then, I gather my gear for the shave that’s about to begin. A quick hot shower, dry up and then pour myself a cup of that fabulous eye opening black elixir as I trudge back to my shave den. I get down to business and proceed to scoop out some soap, grab the brush to build a luscious lather and promptly paint it on my mug. For a moment I take in all the scents & aromas that swirl around in my den, appreciating every single note and nuance that it all brings about. I like simplicity and though shaving can be tedious or complex for some, I find it straightforward, routinely basic and a personal indulgence that I never will tire of. Simple. Men in general don’t need much to be content. Put the steel to skin and just proceeded to remove whiskers stroke after stroke. WTG, ATG & XTG passes were executed to near perfection. The Osprey with the same Feather and from yesterday performed marvelously as I set it at #6.5 or thereabouts for all 3 passes. No buffing, no pick ups were needed once I laid down the Osprey on my bathroom sink. Not a single weeper, not a nic nor an inkling of irritation to be felt or seen. Calm, smooth and buttery soft skin was all that was left in my hands to behold. An alum pass, cold water rinse and a quick splash of the after shave to seal the deal. Grabbed my almost empty cup of wake up potion and poured myself another.

A fabulous sunrise, the perfect shave and a good cup of coffee. I want nor need anything more. Well, maybe bacon & scrambled eggs with some sliced avocado wedges to get the taste buds going. Did I mention that it’s NFL Sunday, too?

Great shaves to all….

I am really glad to see that you are still flying that Osprey heavy, its such an amazing razor. I hope that other's are enjoying their Osprey's as well. Gotta love that pretty purple brush handle, with its see through design. I never heard of, or have used that shave soap. But I tell you what, as long as a shave soap provides the glide for a fun time, the Osprey will make quick work of them whiskers, and bring fourth the weight reduction, so that you may have that glass smooth skin that you so desire.  Heart

Hope everyone had a wonderful Turkey Day with good eats, goods drinks and great laughs but, most importantly we were all grateful to have what we have to share with those we love and love most.

An update with my Blackland Osprey on this cold & crisp Saturday morning. Went with the normal set up that has worked with consistent effectiveness from shave to shave and that has been starting it at about #7. Worked my way down to #5 for a near flawless shave. I say near flawless as I did give myself a couple of weepers with a fresh Feather blade that brings the Osprey to a more acute level of cutting ability. And if one thinks or acts like they have an Astra SP or similar blade in it like I did, the Feather will remind you that it’s not one of those blades. No irritation or discomfort which is always welcome and as some of you may know and have used a Feather blade, it does get smoother after that initial shave. Well, at least for me it does. I’m still tinkering with different blades but, so far the Gillette Minora’s have been the best in providing excellent smoothness with a combined sharpness that works for my shaves. Granted that I’ve only used 3 different blades but, I’ll get a few more in just to settle on 3 blades that will work best in the Osprey.

Great shaves to all…

Because I have a sense of humor, I ate a different kind of Turkey, an Osprey. Yes, I shaved with an Osprey in the morning, then I ate an Osprey in the evening. You don't believe me? What about a pack of wild flying geese, nobody likes those honkers anyways? Nope you don't believe that either? What about a giant chicken from a mad science experiment? No, you don't believe that either ha? Would you believe that I am pulling your chain and I just ate a Turkey like everybody else? Alright then, you got me, I had Turkey, stuffing, and everything else. Its good that they name that stuffing, cause I was so stuffed, that the next day, I was still stuffed. I had so many calories and Triptofan, its a miracle that I could even walk!

Congratulations on having a wonderful thanksgiving, and as well as, a wonderful Osprey shave. My Osprey salutes yours, as we deliver the eviction notice to the whiskers, bringing fourth, a BBS shave. Just picture WW1 style planes in a dogfight when using our Osprey's, its kind of funny.  Big Grin

You see that? Triple wings, that means double the lift force, which means, those pesky whiskers can't hide from our Osprey's. No sir!

Glad that Blackland is offering this option. Personally, though I love shiny & bright, I really don’t see it offering anything in a performance value. Maybe a slight gain in face feel with potentially smoother operation? Don’t know as I feel that the as Machined version offers more than enough smoothness for me. However, I will say that a Titanium version would have me very, very interested in it if Blackland decides to bring it to fruition. Undoubtedly it will be Blackland’s most expensive offering with a safe bet of prices starting in the $500+ Range and more on the plus side of it. But, I would wholeheartedly sign up for one as I think the reduced weight would bring a substantial gain in cutting performance and overall shave feel. I’d be all in on a Ti Osprey.
