I won't speculate on price because we don't really know our costs yet. In general, I think it's wise to look at material price gaps on a relative basis instead of a fixed one. That's a better way to guess where pricing might fall.

Looking at the BB SS vs Ti comparison it shows a 60% increase for the Ti metal over SS. Waving my hands with a fairly simplistic and naive approach that the relative material inputs, machining cost, and margin deltas will be equivalent, that would suggest the Osprey in Ti at $560 (from a base of 350 in SS). But given the Osprey price point I have to imagine fewer copies will be produced and therefore whatever fixed costs there might be for the Ti version will have to be spread over a smaller volume, along with potentially allocating some of the presumed R&D cost recovery in there as well. So I could see that number going higher, although Blackland might trade off unit margin for volume, depending on price sensitivity/price elasticity. And that trade off could cap or reduce the relative increase for the Ti variant.

The Osprey
The newest Blackland razor is here! The Osprey is an adjustable razor like no other. Its three-piece design and lightweight stainless steel construction give it the feeling and rock-solid performance of a traditional DE razor. But with our innovative mechanism featuring nine infinitely adjustable shave levels that vary from mild to highly efficient and everything in between, the Osprey is anything but traditional.

Black and Gold Blackbirds
We’ve spent most of this year designing and engineering the Osprey in public on YouTube until every single detail was absolutely perfect.

After hundreds of prototypes and thousands of hours, we can proudly say that this is the most obsessively-designed and innovative product we’ve every produced.

The Osprey will be available on September 22nd for $350. Orders are expected to be fulfilled by the first week of October.

We know you will have a lot of questions about the Osprey. Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing all the details that make the Osprey such a special razor.

Great video on the new razor Shane. Very thorough and informative. You're always going the extra mile.

That said, the video isn't the star of the show. Lol. That razor looks stunning! Great job. I expect the reviews, in the coming weeks, will be stellar.

Living on the edge
Is it too early to start fantasising about an Osprey in Ti....asking for a friend.
My first question is: what material would the insert be made of?

Titanium work starts as soon as stainless has been completed. The insert will almost certainly be the same brass insert used by the stainless Osprey. We'll test it first, but that's the current idea. More inserts of varying materials and designs are likely as we move forward.

niiiiiice.....while I was watching the product video, it made me wonder what happens to the brass if it starts
to patina...can it spread some of that to the steel it is in contact with...Im no expert so was just mulling it over.
I guess one has to clean the insert with vinegar etc to keep it patina -free?
