Blackland Adjustable: Osprey

Amazing Shane! No doubt I'll be picking one up. Is the highest setting more efficient than than the BB and the dart? I would imagine so.

It’s in the ballpark. Very different experience from the Blackbird especially as the Osprey has a more traditional blade gap and exposure relationship.

True razor innovation that we haven't seen in years, much less in an adjustable.
Love the handle mechanics and ergonomics...the brass plug pretty much eliminates
the need for Titanium in the future, I would imagine. And the Taipei 101 reference
is just a wonderful piece of inspiration and functional genius. You are quite the engineer!
To say that I am a confirmed buyer would be understating it.

The only thing that I didn't quite sync with perfectly was the big ass BLACKLAND plastered
across the front...but I do understand that branding is necessary. Was wondering if the scallops
at the sides of the head could be replaced with recessed lettering for grip...perhaps 'OSPREY'
on both sides instead of anonymous scalloping. That's probably a stupid idea but had to blurt
it out.

Thanks for the kind words! The engraving critique is fair. I’m generally against brand engraving, but whenever we produce a non-branded razor we get a ton of requests/complaints that our name isn’t on it. So we’re doing that this time. Plus, that big flat surface begs to be a billboard.

How do you properly clean it with all those nooks and recessed areas? Does a toothbrush sufficiently reach everywhere? (For example, I'm surprised the underside of the head isn't just a flat area, but I guess that's a weight issue.)

We cover the reason for skeletonizing the base plate in Part 2. It’s all about weight. I wanted this razor to feel and function like a regular three piece razor. So the weight needed to be under 100g to avoid feeling like a bloated adjustable.

The underside of the base plate can be accessed easily with a brush or q-tip.

The brass insert is clever. Interested to see changes to the bottom of the handle. Something about the bottom flare messes with the overall aesthetic. Also seems a bit plain.

Fair critique! There is still a little bit of development left in the handle, but the general shape is fixed. There’s a lot going on with this razor from top to bottom. From the crazy skeleton base plate with its side scallops, to the indicator arrow protruding downward overlapping with the knob, to the knob itself with its scallops and helical engravings, to the handle with the full skeleton cage and brass insert. It’s a lot of visually take in and I wanted to be careful not to over-design every surface. Possible that we were too cautious in that area. I think that’s a delicate line to walk.

How about Blackland on one side and Osprey on the other side? I was watching on a small screen, so maybe Osprey is already there and I missed it, but if not ....

A question please, not that if affects the awesomeness of the Osprey, but does the brass insert make it easier to control the head with more of a feather touch, at least for rotation?  I was wondering if the insert might actually make the 100g version have the benefit of weight with a more controllable feel.

The razor is nicely balanced about where the brass insert is which is where your fingers go. So the razor is nicely controlled. A good way to think about the brass is what happens when it’s removed. It reduces weight overall, of course, but it also shifts the weight into the head letting you modulate the handle up and down for angle choice while the head stays more planted on your face. Both are good.

Are you going to sell the different sizes of brass bar for users who like handle heavier??
