So this is pretty cool Shane
Blackland Razors . As I was looking at the head and how it adjusts I immediately went to thoughts of how do you prevent tipping or wobble of the head either front to back or side to side or really in any direction so I had to look up what a wave spring is.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave_spring. Very cool and I can see that something like the multi turn wave spring with shim ends would likely manage the stability issue pretty well. Obviously you're trying to get the force applied uniformly around the circumference of the wave spring. I also really like that the adjustment happens entirely in the head and the head appears to be reasonably simple to disassemble/clean/reassemble or at least I hope it is. One of the things I noticed when I had a Gillette Fatboy refurbished and replated a few years back was how disgustingly filthy things were inside the handle mechanism. Just too many nooks and crannies that are inaccessible to routine cleaning. It was seriously revolting in there. The Blackland design looks to go a long way to eliminating that particular problem. I dont know about other guys but for me that old style, in the handle, inaccessible mechanism is a hard pass. No matter how diligent you are it's just going to acquire filth and yes, I'm a disassemble, rinse and dry the razor after every shave guy and I'm particular about what I use to drag a razor blade over my face. I'm looking forward to watching this project move along - I hope it works.
