The one thing that strikes me with the blackbird is how musical it is. It has tremendous audio and tactile feedback which some may perceive it as blade chatter all the negatives that go with that.

I do find, however, that this level of communication really helps me find the sweet spot and I can get a bbs shave with ease. And the chatter is NOT associated with 'bite back' some other loose razors are attributed with.

Hope that made sense. I've always had trouble articulating this point about a blackbird.

Very curious, but do you find a difference in performance between the machined and polished SB? And how would you compare the feel and the performance of the OC to the SB?

I did a blind test, I was not able to detect any difference between the machined and polished finishes. However, in the beginning there was some dragging sensation with the black oxide, but after a few shaves it went away.

When I used the OC for the first time I felt immediately that it was more aggressive than the SB, but after a three pass shave I could only notice that the OC was more efficient with the same level of almost unnoticeable irritation. Now I prefer the OC to the SN

Very helpful, thank you.

I posted a WTB, sounds like I might enjoy this too

In my opinion, and I have tried everything, Wolfman, BBS, Blackbird, Pils, Tradere, Cobra etc, the Timeless is the best header I have ever tasted. It has no rival.

Further subjective observations:

Timeless .68 = very smooth, but not as effective as I would like; less effective than my Weber DLC

Timeless .95 = smooth and effective, but left me with too much irritation.

Blackbird Black Oxide SB = quite a rough shave and not smooth, at all. It must be the coating, for some reason. I tried 7 shaves with it and they were all quite uncomfortable, for me.

Blackbird Polished SB = significant blade feel, but extremely effective and leaves me with little to no irritation. It might be my best DE shaver.
