I have an urge to purchase a new stainless steel razor. The two I have been considering are timeless and blackbird. Please share your opinions.

Only tried the .68 as of yet, but between the two I'd pick the Blackbird. It's very efficient while still being relatively gentle. The .68 is a mild and smooth shaver and right up there but the BlackBird is close to perfect for me.

Tough call. Have both in both versions (SB and open comb) and wouldn't part with either. They shave differently, and equally well. If you like a lot of blade feel and audibles cues than the Blackbird is it. If you prefer the opposite than the Timeless is it.

I think it's more of a personal preference, but for me the Timeless with the .95 blade gap won out over the Blackbird. Both razors are outstanding, have you considered getting in on one of the pass arounds that are going on in multiple forums?

Personal preference will vary, extremely, so unfortunately, you'll have to try both as they can be completely different shavers, to you.

For me, the Timeless (.95) is smoother, but left me with too much irritation, regardless of the pressure used, for some reason and I did not find it as effective.

The Blackbird feels 'rougher' with quite a bit of blade feel, but very effective and leaves me with very little to no irritation, for some reason.

I have no explanation for this. Big Grin

Good luck.

Which Timeless head are you referring to, the 0.68 or the 0.95? I have the 0.68 solid bar and it provides me with wonderfully smooth, mild, comfortable and irritation-free efficient shaves.

I had both 0.68 and 0.95 Timeless SB Polished, but neither of them could outperform my BBs in either finish (I have polished SB and OC, Black Oxide and Machined in SB). So I ended up selling the Timeless razors.

Very curious, but do you find a difference in performance between the machined and polished SB? And how would you compare the feel and the performance of the OC to the SB?

If I were to go with Timeless, I would probably select the 0.68 OC baseplate in the polished finish.

If I were to go with Blackbird, I would probably select the OC also in the polished finish.

I did a blind test, I was not able to detect any difference between the machined and polished finishes. However, in the beginning there was some dragging sensation with the black oxide, but after a few shaves it went away.

When I used the OC for the first time I felt immediately that it was more aggressive than the SB, but after a three pass shave I could only notice that the OC was more efficient with the same level of almost unnoticeable irritation. Now I prefer the OC to the SN
