How the hell could a blade get sharper after a few shaves? Doesn't that defy the laws of physics? Kais felt on par with the sharpness of a Voskhod to me, which is to say, pretty dull. Call me crazy but, I could barely get through a whole shave with one of those and it didn't matter what razor I put it in. Truly YMMV these blades...

I’ve heard this as well. There’s an article that I’ll try to find that explains it. It’s the web page that compares dozens of different blades in terms of sharpness.

Blades are coated, coating wears off pretty quickly.

Thank you for the detailed explanation and it makes sense. What’s also interesting is some of the blades on that list that are considered sharper I’ve tried and I find them not feeling sharper and not smooth at all like Shark for example.

I don’t want to go off topic as this thread is about blade chatter in the BB but again I always like to learn.

This morning I shaved with the OC Blackbird with a GSB on its fourth shave with 3 days of growth and experienced what I would call chatter on the first pass. I also use a very shallow angle. I didn't notice this on the previous shaves and attribute it to the extra growth and a blade that is starting to dull.

Generally speaking, I feel the more coarse the stubble is, the higher the occurrence of blade chatter.

I have the coarse stubble of Indian ethnicity. I definitely feel the blade chatter and this leads to skin irritation and a less close shave.

I like razors that either have the pinch point close to the blade edge (e.g. Karve) or very little blade reveal (e.g. ATT Windsor) or intense blade bend (e.g. Merkur Progress/Rockwell 6S).

I've got Yates, Outlaw and Tatara Nodachi on the way based on the feedback about lack of chatter and by analysing the head design. I'm confident I'll get on with them.

The blade bend is something that sometimes gets overlooked in the discussions about clamping and blade rigidity / chattering. Rockwell 6S is not clamped, yet it provides one of the smoothest shaves ever.

Well, I've experienced blade chatter with the BB before, and that would be against the grain shaving. I've messed with the angles, the blades and what made the most difference was a thicker lather or so it seemed at the time. 
   . Now I'm into this thing a little less than 3 years so take this into account, but have tried many of razors. 
  So I put the black bird away for a while and got it out a few months later remembering not to short myself on lather and boom what a wonderful shave. 
   I've experienced the same thing with the Charcoal Goods lv3 which is also one of my favorites along with the BB. 
    The conclusion, I'm keeping the razor and I really like it very efficient shaves, and I do use feathers most of the time these days.

Yah, I find blade bend makes a huge difference in keeping the blade very rigid.

The 6S is a prime example as the pinch point is a fair way back.

The outlaw is said to be similar which is why I ordered one to try. Most reports state low blade chatter, so let's see.
