Since I could find no older thread on this DE blade I thought I would offer up my 2 cents.

Several years ago when I began DE shaving I tried these blades and condemned them as not worth a tinker's damn.  Awhile back I tried a couple on a whim and was rewarded with some of the smoothest shaves I have ever had. Truth be known, when new my technique was not honed nor my prep top shelf.  Blush  It's something few admit as we all have our pride and let's face it, it's shaving & not brain surgery, right?  Smile  Well, as most here know there is a learning curve and it's up to the individual to decide how long that will be. Moving on...

The Bic Chrome Platinum is a superb blade that I personally rank alongside the Lord Platinum & Astra SP performance wise as well as for price. Since I am usually a 'three shave & toss' shaver I can't comment on longevity. However, heed that I use medium aggressive DE razors, e.g., Schick Krona, Tech, etc. I prefer that terminology as opposed to 'mild' as with proper technique they are quite capable of superb shaves. How these blades perform in very aggressive razors I know not. YMMV.

I have no problem with a Bic Chrome Platinum blade.

But I've used only one of them.

I got it by a PIF.

I quite like them as well. Nice and smooth for me. I've used them in the Wolfman, 34c and the Standard, all with great results.

I wanted to try a tuck of these for yrs but never had the chance to lay my hands on one. I did a month or so ago and, sadly, just to tuggy for me. I like the wrapping and design, but the performance wasnt there for me. I tried them out in my blade test razor, a regular 50s ball tech.

I think I'll have to revisit these as well. First time I tried them was about 4 years ago. Not bad, but not great for my beard. It's true though, some blades I used to hate are some of my favorites (exluding Derby and Dorco. Still can't stand those)

I still have two tucks of them from about a year back when I started out with a DE razor. They are freely available here in South Africa. I found them to be a bit too tuggy and never used them ever since. At that stage I only had a Gillette Knack and Fatip Grande razor. I must echo your sentiment BPman, my technique and prep was also not up to standard when I’ve used them the last time. Wink I think I will also go and revisit them in some of my other razors as well but I doubt that they will be ever as good as the Gillette Minora Platinums I’m using.

This morning I revisited a Bic blade in my Aristocrat # 16. Now it can either be to my technique and prepping that improved over the past year or the transformation by the Aristocrat. I experienced no tugging and the blade was well on par with the Minora Platinums which is my to-go blade. Thanks BPman for reintroducing me to a blade I written off many months ago. Now I should revisit some of the other blades I placed aside as well…

You're welcome, however I have a question on the Minora Platinums. I bought a tuck a few years ago from West Coast Shaving and really liked the four I used (I have one left), but they are so damn high priced!! http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Gillette...p_970.html
No one else sells then in the USA. I know that they sell them in South Africa far cheaper, but no vendor there ships to the USA. Where did you get yours?

Hi BPman. I buy my Minora blades from a chain store called Makro. 100 Blades (20x5) cost me R310 which is equal to $21.25. It works out to R15.50 per tuck which is equal to $1.06 per tuck. They are a bit more expensive than other blades found locally in SA but for me they’re worth every scent.
In South Africa Minora blades have the same status as the famous story of Coca Cola spreading its wings to every part of the globe. There are 11 official languages in South Africa. If you say "minora" to a person of any language you will be given a blade. One can say the name Minora is almost synonymous with DE blade in South Africa.

Like the Gillette 7’o clock blade these blades are also made in St. Petersburg, Russia but branded differently for the South AFRICA's market. One can therefor make the assumption that these blades are likely the same as other brands coming out of St Petersburg. I also read on other forums that overseas shavers find them similar to the 7o'clock blades. One guy even nicknamed it the 7 o’clock pinks.

I have tried many other blades samples but I find the Minora Blades to be a premium blade, comparable with the best out there. Needless to say, this was my first 100 blade purchase. They are my to go blade but I do occasionally shave with Astra SP, Wilkinson Sword Saloon, Gillette 7 o’Clock yellows, Feather and Concord blades.

Too bad no SA vendor will ship these to the USA. I would buy 100 as well as a Williams shave stick.
