I have three brushes. Stirling 26mm synth, Shave Revolution 24mm synth, and a cheap, AOS badger that came in a kit years ago. My synthetic brushes outperform the cheap badger in every way. They make a better lather and are more comfortable to use.
Will a good boar or badger brush give me any benefits over the brushes I have? Other than being just "different"? I don't mind paying $150 for a good badger if it will do something better than what I have.
For instance, Do I need a good boar brush to use with hard soaps? Will a badger perform better over a broader range of soaps?
I'm not the kind of guy that will have a bunch of brushes. I'm more the type to find what I like and stick with it. I have every intent on sticking with what I have unless I'm missing out on something that could be "better", in a quantifiable way.
What do y'all think?
