BBS-1 vs WR2

Aside from the initial WR2 offering at .95mm which was thought to maybe be a tad bit milder than the BBS-1... what is everyone’s opinion who has tried both as to the dimensional changes brought to the WR2 and if they lend themselves to make it a better razor or if they aim just to make it slightly different from the BBS-1.

To ask another way...if your were able to get a BBS-1 in multiple configurations like the WR2 which would you prefer?

I just did a. Shave Off using both the BBS1 and the WR2.95 or also known as the standard gap. Won’t go into extreme detail but the BBS1 was a bit more efficient but not by much and I’m sure the 1.05 would match it in efficiency. The BBS1 also had more blade feel and that was true throughout the 2 passes I did going both WTG and ATG. The WR2 had a little bit on the 1st pass but then it diminished on the 2nd ATG pass. Also noticeable was the WR2 is smother throughout the Shave by a bit although I certainly would not call the BBS1 even remotely harsh and it’s still a smooth shaver. Just not as smooth as the WR2. What was also noticeable was the BBS1 is a bit handle heavy and for me not as well balanced as the WR2. I will also say in my opinion the handle on the BBS1 is one of if not the most beautiful handle James has put out and I’d like to see a limited edition WR2 with a duplicate of the handle and the whole razor done in Titanium.

Ive got 3 shaves in with a BBS1 and can confirm everything Frankie typed. The knurling on the handle is the best. I measured it at 14mm.

The reason the BBS1 feels handle heavy is because the head is 6g lighter than the WR2...27g vs 33g I believe.

The WR2 is a big improvement on a great shaving original.

I will take my WR2 1.25 any day over the BBS1. WR2 smooth and efficient. For me the BBS1 was smooth but not efficient enough.

Phew!

All I can say is that the BBS-1 looks breathtaking, even compared to other razors from the same artisan.

That gorgeous handle widdles over all others from a great height.

Apples and oranges, to me. The .95 or 1.05 WR2 are a closer comparison. Personally, I'd take a BBS-1 over either. Roughly equal in efficiency. WR2 gets the nod in smoothness. BBS-1 has better, more consistent, blade feel.

The BBS-1 will find a place in my den. It will be great for use 24hrs after a 125 or 135 shave when there isn't a whole lot of growth. However, the 115 and 125 will get the majority of the work load.

My feeling is a bit different, maybe because I love mild medium-agressive shavers.
I enjoy using WR1 .54 and .61
.67 and above are too agressive for me and have too much blade feel.
BBS-1 is very close to a WR1 .61 IMHO with a bit more efficiency and similar blade feel
WR2 .95 is very smooth but clearly lacking of efficiency for me. WR2 1.05 is better, still very smooth but not as efficient as a BBS-1.
I need to try a 1.15, I hope it will be like a smooth BBS-1.
