Thanks for the replies guys, yeah its not too bad that I can't deal with it. I think I'll definitely be trying a few other Bay Rum aftershaves to see if I can find one that doesn't give me this reaction as it is something I'd prefer not to experience if I can get the same scent and effect out of another AS.

The scent to me smells great however, when I finished my shave and applied the aftershave I immediately got a burning sensation. This wasn't the typical aftershave sting just multiplied it seemed to be a different kind of burn, like my face felt hot for a good 4-5 minutes after that it stopped and all was well. Is this normal for Bay Rums? I watched a video of Nick Shaves using this same aftershave and he seemed to have a similar reaction but not sure if it was just a magnified aftershave burn for him or more what I experienced. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Hey Zachary,
Could be the alcohol content too. Try diluting it a tad with some distilled water. This is a trick I use with Aftershaves that kinda burn. I would just add a tsp of water , give it a shake and try it again. Keep adding more water if you notice it's working, but no more than 5 tsp all together.
Or it could very well be the essential oils, they are on the spicier side and reacting to Bay Rum is not so strange. That is also the reason I and a few other soapmakers have warnings on the sales pages for Bay Rum items.
Give the distilled water experiment a go if you are up to it and have not sold your bottle! Sorry I saw this post so late.
Cheers!

I've got a fix for you ...

Get in a bottle of Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum. Slap some of that on a freshly shaved face and you'll never complain about the "burn" of your PAA.

Hey Douglas, no worries. Unfortunately I parted ways with that Bay Rum (traded for some ClubGuy). I'll definitely have to give that a shot next time or with others I might pick up that give me the same reaction. Would doing so also lessen the amount of fragrance/staying power of the AS?

In theory yes and if it was anyone else's AS you may not want to. However, my stuff last forever, super staying power...a splash of distilled water shouldn't affect it much at all!

I've had similar reactions with a couple of bay rum products. It's pretty mild for me though and totally worth it. I always figured it was due to cinnamon.
