The reason for this post is I noticed if I cut up my Bay Leaves it seems to intensify the scent. I’m tempted to use a stick blender but then the straining process might be a nightmare trying to get all the particles out of the liquid.

Here’s a photo of some of the leaves I cut up.
The whole place smells like Bay Rum! In a good way.

That's a beautiful sight, Dragonsbeard! World can't get enough Bay Rum. I've got a neighbor who loves it so much he decided to grow a bay tree in his yard. Searched up and down for someone who could send him a sapling, but no luck. I wonder if it can be grown from seed?

Hi Bouki

Tell your friend that I ordered a plant aka little tree online and it came pretty quickly. I placed it in a good sized planting pot and it's been growing nicely. Being in NY it has to stay indoors as I think the cold weather would kill it. The leaves don't smell very much but if you take one and break it the oil comes out and they have that wonderful Bay Rum scent. I"m going to see how big it can get.

Health and happiness my friend.

Dragonsbeard: Great to hear your sapling is taking off. Wish we could get one here. But here's the thing with shipping live plants like a bay rum tree to Hawaii: they can't be potted in soil. It has to be either bare root or planted in some other medium. Since it's a bother to take a sapling and clean off all the dirt and then replant in something else, most growers won't ship to Hawaii. At least that's what my friend found out. But I might suggest that he order some seeds. My soil's too salty, but he's got a nice lot with mangoes and papayas, so I suspect bay would grow there too.

I wore my atomic pumpkin splash last week and surprisingly, my wife enjoyed the scent. she doesn't like the majority of the aftershave fragrances I enjoy in my collection, so this one was surprising!

So this is one of PAA’s LE bay rums. The Shaving- it’s a play on the Jack Nicholson movie The Shining. Ray Rum/Red Rum. I have no idea who Ray is or how many sets were made. I have #55. From a scent perspective, it’s in the same neighbourhood as Atomic Pumpkin and Blue Samhain and not Atomic Bay Rum or Classico. I like it.

I used Thor’s Hammer Bay Rum aftershave yesterday and detected some similarities to the now out of production Krampert’s Acadian Spice Bay Rum. So if you loved Krampert’s and are out of it you might want to give Thor’s Hammer a try. On Etsy.

If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend PAA’s Space Nog. Just released this year’s edition.  Happy2

Is it slightly different each year?

I don’t think so. I suppose I could get a fresh one and see. Smile

I really enjoy Atomic Age Bay Rum splash. It gives a very gebtle scent, not too strong like others.
